Lee I just got one of these from eBay still in it’s box and brand new for a tenner, I KNEW you would have a cracking video about it! 😃👍🤝 Such a legend mate 🙏

Awesome vid. I’ve got the toothless nano 2 on the way. Can’t wait to test it out. The video looks so good.

If you are legitimately producing media, many jurisdictions allow certain access to otherwise restricted areas. At 125k subscribers, near the top of your demographic, I think you qualify. Be safe, and healthy! Thank you so much for passing on a wealth of knowledge, which I put to good use in robotics, SUAS, RC, filmmaking, electronics, etc. You are an outstanding educator and brilliant technical presenter. Cheers!

Thanks for the comment, no where near the ceiling of subscribers though. Only 1/3 of the viewers are subscribers.. Happy flying!

Great video Lee, details of FPV cameras is definitely one of my knowledge gaps, so look forward to this video type. Keep 'em coming. Cheers!!!

The shimmering in Foxeer cameras is really annoying and distracting. Otherwise, they look good. The shimmering is probably caused by the camera over sharpening, but turning down the sharpness setting doesn't make much difference.

I am trying to find a replacement JST connector for my Micro. Any ideas on the correct size?
@BoneBear3 жыл бұрын
I've got the Toothless 2 micro and was wondering if there's a way to change the display name in the OSD? In other Foxeer models, you hold left or up on the camera remote to get to the menu to change that, but the T2 doesn't seem to have that?

Yea my baby ratel does that in night mode. I can't fly indoors.. so I had to leave in color

Great review painless. Excellent cameras.

Thanks for the review. So it is a micro format not a mini? They look to be nice cameras... better than the caddx ratel? A bit more expensive though.

Looks like a decent option, have you or do you plan to take a look at the ethix camera?

Thank you for the review, Lee. Is it the same camera with Toothless without digit 2 at the end or it is a separate new one, probably updated version of Toothless itself?

Comparing it to my caddx ratel that I use for night flying, ide say the daytime image is slightly better, night is hard to tell without trying it in person. I wouldnt scrap my ratel for a toothless but maybe my next build will feature a toothless.
@madhatter80884 жыл бұрын
I got the first toothless and it looks very good, but I still went back to the ratel. To me the Ratel is my favorite.

I have been using ratels been great. 1/1.8" sensor.. but a lot of people seem to like toothless 2 . Both cameras prob about the same

Just a quick question for you - Does your Nano (std version) get hot to the touch? not too hot that it cannot be held, but warm/hot. I powered mine on the bench from the 5v supply of the AKK FX2. Just looking for your take on the heat output. thank you, stay healthy & keep up the great work. Aloha

how about comparing it to night eagle 2 pro? It would lose i guess...

How does the mini version compare? If weight is not an issue I should go for micro instead nano right?
@Painless3604 жыл бұрын
The nano had issues in lower light here. I liked the picture from both in daylight..

Lee, I just hoisted myself by updating my venerable X8R to go with my new Jumper T16. I had to downgrade the firmware to get the radio to bind. This new FRSKY 2.0 is screwing us sideways. Can you make a video or comment on what the heck the point of 2.0 from FRSKY........

Hi I have been flying with Caddx Ratel starlight and I thought it was great until I seen the mini vr. the Ratel and the Foxeer Mini looked much nicer and I plan on getting one next time I need one. Thanks for the information.

I'm struggling to find my next FPV camera. All new cameras tend to have fisheye lenses (1.8mm to 2.5mm'ish). This seems to be what the average quadcopter pilot wants and it seems to have become the only choice now. Argh! I fly planes more than quads and I've always prefered a 3.6mm lens. I put the camera on a servo to pan around. Anyone know of a 3.6mm FPV camera thats still available these days?
@Painless3604 жыл бұрын
I use the RunCam Eagle, Foxeer Predator or a RunCam Hybrid on planes here..
@stedenvideos38254 жыл бұрын
@@Painless360 Yup. They all come with wide angle lenses but it might be possible to swap out to a narrower lens with one or two of them I guess.

Nice comparison video. Beginner question - why not just attach the camera with a wire to the recorder to get the best quality possible instead of relying on a wireless setup since interference is happening? Enjoy the channel! Cheers!
@Painless3604 жыл бұрын
An excellent idea and if I get something here that'll do that I will. Know of anything?
@hsingh16144 жыл бұрын
@@Painless360 Hi, I am not sure if a cable can be purchased off the shelf but with a bit of soldering you can make a connecting cable for the video and power. The camera provides video out and needs power (three wires come out of camera -> +voltage, ground, video_out). The monitor needs video in and power. The DVR needs video in and power. So, connecting the camera video out to the video in for the monitor and DVR and using the same ground wire. Supply power and use the same ground for all devices. Isn't it as simple as that?
@spyder0000694 жыл бұрын
@@Painless360 You could use a set of fatshark goggles that have the dvr built in. Remove the module and use a standard row of header pins that will plug in where the module would normally be. The modules just output a video a signal the same as the camera and the googles can provide the power to the camera since they output 5v to the modules. The other pins on the module are just there for channel adjustment. Pinouts can be found online. Would only need the 3 wires (pos/neg/signal) and you can use a long servo extension wire soldered to the header as your cable. Then just adapt the cameras to plug into the extension cable.
