In answer to your question Tim (media release mistakes), it is because they refuse to involve any Expats (like yourself) in any decision they make. If they did what other countries do and ask qualified Expats for inputs, they would be given lots of corrections and questions. But that means 'losing face' - so they will not do that - but I think you already know that 😉

Both visa lists are correct. People from some countries when they arrive have an option either go through visa exemt line or get a visa on arrival. Why would anyone chose to get visa on arrival vs visa exempt? There are legal things where someone needs a visa which I dont know much about.

No the list really isn’t correct at all. Brazilians don’t need a VOA! They get 90 days visa exemption through a bi lateral reciprocal agreement. For them to now be placed in a 60 day visa exemption list makes this incorrect

I think there may be some interference with reporting about the dead people at the Hyatt. Online BP has relegated the news to secundary pages, and the news did not make it to the printed edition, though there was ample time.

About China and Taiwan appearing on both lists, any Chinese or Taiwanese can enjoy 180 days of stay in Thailand per year under the visa exemption scheme. If they arrive in Thailand and have stayed in Thailand more than 180 days within that calender year, they have to apply for a visa on arrival.

Infographic...you don't say where it's from, therefore the absence of commas, duplications of countries in different categories and information re. extension by a further 90 days isn't especially relevant. there is only a limit of 2 entries by land border, in a calendar year, no limits on entry by airplane but caveat is entry is at the discretion of the immigration officer, when they judge it is too many, it is too many.

Was surprised that under the "Participants in activities such as", education (learning Thai) was not included. Makes me wonder if I can only take Thai language classes with a specific visa? Or was it excluded because that type of visa has been prone to abuse in the past?

I thought the same thing and reviewed. The activities listed were examples "such as" I have enquired with Thai Embassy (Canberra) in the past about language study and it was yes then so I would think/hope the answer would still be yes. This has been an option I have considered rather than going down the retirement visa track as neither of us want to spend the hot/wet season in Thailand and 6 months is more than enough for me.
