I've seen a website claiming that I am a registered democrat, and a gun control lobby group that was formed in my state last year has repeatedly claimed I am a member of their organization (they bought a list of names of people that had left comments on the state legislature's website concerning a gun control issue, and I was one of the people who had left a comment). My state does not require voters to register as being affiliated with any party, I have never registered as a democrat, and I have not voted for any democrat since the 1990s. I have repeatedly pointed out, in the comments section of news reports, the lies that this lobby group tells the local news media, and the comment I left on the state legislature's website was that it was pointless to even consider the gun control laws that were being proposed, for the simple reason that criminals had already proven that they did not comply with those laws when they had been passed in other states. Look where somebody spends their money and what they have themselves stated in the past.

That state requires you to register as a republican if you want to vote in the republican primary. Swapping party registration in order to disrupt the other party's primary by voting for a candidate that is less likely to win in the general election, is a very old political trick.

But that donation happened when he was 17 and he registered as a Republican at 18. He doesn't fit neatly into either category yet.
