Drywall and wood studs don’t hold up well at all. I wish more of America used cinder block, steel, and cement in house construction.

I wish Americans would see that steel, and concrete are no match. And would be worse projectiles. Common sense is lacking with you.
@j340_official8 ай бұрын
@@lifeintornadoalley why do you say that ? Cinder block steel and concrete stood up to hurricane irma in the Caribbean, 180 mph winds with stronger gusts. Stronger than this tornado. So what makes you believe the same materials wouldn’t withstand this tornado ? In your case I see “common sense” isn’t so common at all 😂.

@@j340_officialgood idea for hurricanes not gonna save you from a tornado though
@j340_official8 ай бұрын
@@jakedavis2954 I hope you realize that category 5 hurricanes, with their very intense thunderstorms in the central dense overcast sometimes spawn tornados! And on islands, with steep hills and mountains, the wind gusts are much stronger at the higher altitudes than at sea level (the wind speed rating is for sea level, not the hills!!!). So with Irma for example they may have said 180 at sea level, but in the hills/mountains, speeds were over 200 mph. And yet concrete, steel, cinder block, roofs with hurricane anchors and rafters tied in to the walls with steel and concrete stood up to hurricane Irma in many instances! Do you really think drywall and wood studs would’ve survived a category 5 monster? You can say whatever you want about hurricanes vs tornados, but the proof is in the pudding in terms of the actual experience of some homes withstanding 180, 200 mph winds with stronger gusts. Yes I know some tornados can be extremely strong like 300 mph stronger than any hurricane. But was that the case here? Doesn’t appear so. And again, the essential point I am making is wood studs and drywall don’t stand a chance, yet that is the common building material in most of America except perhaps for parts of Florida in the hurricane zone, and maybe some other parts. Why mainly wood and drywall though? Other than it being cheap and quick to construct? I would never live in tornado alley, but if I did, I’d want a house with steel and cement columns and cinder block.
@j340_official8 ай бұрын
@@jakedavis2954 I hope you realize category 5 hurricanes, with their extreme thunderstorms in the central dense overcast can spawn tornados! Yet with cinder block, steel, cement, rafters anchored with hurricane clips into the concrete ring beam, there are houses in the Caribbean that stand up to beasts like hurricane irma 180 mph! And with hurricanes, the hurricane center’s wind report is for sea level!! But some islands have high elevations in the thousands of feet, which can mean much stronger sustained winds and gusts than at sea level! And besides the point is: drywall and wood studs don’t stand a chance to extreme winds. Unfortunately. I wish more of America, especially in tornado alley, used stronger materials.

Trillions have been taken out of our taxes, but the climate is getting worse. It is because the theory of anthropogenic factor is wrong. The real reason is completely different and it's related to the cosmic cycle of 12,000 years. We, as humanity, have very little time left to stop the further progression of catastrophes. If we don't take action, our usual comfortable life will end already in the next few years. Figure out what's happening to our planet and what we can do to survive: *"Global* *Crisis.* *The* *Responsibility"* *Creative* *Society*
