I know this is an old comment but, I always figured he went for mankind's last because it would be the easiest to take. I mean think about it, he went for the Amazons first because they weren't expecting it and if he took one of the others first and they found out they'd quadruple security on it. He went for the Atlantean's next because they have the next best security and then the humans because we just had it out in the open. Saving the humans box for last was the smartest thing to do. I mean it's not like they had no clue where the boxes were, they just couldn't come get them because of superman.

@@chadwood4412 he went for Atlantis's because he couldn't take mankind's second. As soon as he set up base he sent the parademons to search for the missing mother box. Since it was hidden poorly and the knowledge of it was lost, it was harder for him to find. So going for the known locations was the fastest way for him.

@@39Hundred Its on HBO Max. But no I don't think they called him Uxas in the film. At least I don't remember it but Snyder has referred to him as Uxas in the flashback war scene in interviews.

Cool little detail: Ares was the only one to actually cause harm to Darkseid, which makes sense because he was stronger thanks to the war. Btw, at 3:53, how is WW falling in high heels? x) One hell of a chapter. It does feel like Lord of the Rings. Just the sheer scope of this is enough to get immersed in this epic world, and it allows a story like this to breathe so much more.

I immediately thought of what he told Diana in 1918 about gods killing gods. I would also add that Uxas invaded Earth, he wasn't Darkseid yet(it's my one gripe)

If you stored that Motherbox in a known location, some greedy human will try to take it for themselves. Leading to potential constant wars between each other for the possession of the Motherbox. If Lord of the Rings have taught us anything, Humans are greedy and shouldn't be trusted with such an artifact. lol

the lantern here is a bit accurate because before the lantern use the ring as if its a gun shooting green lasers until a smart lantern shows how to properly use it, like the light from the ring reflects how you imagine its power would be...

This is what I have liked about the DC movies. The villains do have strong motivations and you do feel for them despite their genocidal intentions. Zod was a great example. I felt for Steppenwolf. He just wanted to go home.

@@markwebster7435 *Wrong.* It was actually Atlantis' and Themyscira's arrogance, not man's, by believing they could keep New Gods tech from it's own creators. Man's strategy worked as it was the last Mother Box Steppenwolf found. The Apokoliptian invaders reclaimed Atlantis & Themyscira's Mother Boxes before they did man's. Steppenwolf was practically pulling his hair out searching for the third Mother Box as evidenced by DeSaad's growing frustration with him. Think about it.... Steppenwolf never would've found man's Mother Box at all if it hadn't been accidentally unearthed during WW2 because no humans alive today would've had the scent of the Mother Boxes on them for the Parademons to track down. In this case, the arrogance wasn't man's. It was Atlantis and Themyscira's- and they paid heavily for this folly as the film showed. By contrast, not a single human life was lost in Steppenwolf's retrieval of man's Mother Box. Eight STAR Labs employees- even the janitor -were abducted and taken to the tunnel beneath Gotham Harbor for interrogation, but all were eventually rescued by Cyborg and Flash. Even the Russian city Steppenwolf's fortress was located in saw no collateral damage to humans since it was an abandoned city. A ghost town where even the radiation that had been poisoning the land was removed from it by the Mother Boxes for use as an energy source during construction of his stronghold. In return, however, the loss of all those Atlanteans and Amazons is also why when it came time to kill Steppenwolf at the end, it was an Atlantean and an Amazon who did it. Aquaman impaled him on a trident while Wonder Woman decapitated him.

It worked too! Man's was the last Mother Box they found. Steppenwolf retrieved Atlantis & Amazons' boxes way before our's. Desaad was losing his patience over Steppenwolf's inability to locate the 3rd Mother Box

Steppenwolf was a little bitch in the theatrical cut. He was forced to retreat in the History Lesson scene, and then at the end, he was taken away once again by the Parademons who “fed on his fear.” In this one, at least he died an honorable death.
