Mike Waldt Thanks Mike, I was really happy with the awls. The miniatures are the first of what I suspect will be many because I haven't made them for years so I need practice before the competition in September. Best Wishes, Brendan.

The tools are really good Brendan and the miniatures look like they may have taken longer to do than full sized one's, I only wish I had your patents to do stuff like that. All the best Tony

Very nice tools Brendan. The little pieces are so cool. That's got to be crazy hard to do. Take care and do a kindness Mark

MARK Baid Thanks Mark, the small stuff isn't hard, it just takes a lot of time because the cuts are so precise and the margin for error is so low. However, they are great fun and good skill builders... as Capt Eddie would say. Best Wishes, Brendan.

Hi Brendan, Very nice awls and love the miniatures, I think I would need more than a few trips to specsavers to attempt something as small as those :) ....Great job !! All the best Bram

Brams shed Thanks Bram, the miniatures required reading glasses at all times. They are not hard to make, they just take a long time because everything has to be cut so carefully. If you make some you might end up making a lot because they are good fun. Best Wishes, Brendan.

Terry McCullough Thanks Terry, they aren't going in for the competition, they are just practice pieces. Miniatures are actually a very good way to practice tool control and precise cuts. I'll make a few more that I hope will be good enough to enter in September. Best Wishes, Brendan.

Hello Brendan, All of your turnings look great. Your daughter will love the awls and being made out of yew makes them that little bit special. I'm afraid I haven't got to turning the miniatures for the competition as yet the reason being I that a casual acquaintance asked me would I turn a base for an obsolete rocket head. When mounted he wants to paint peace symbols on it. I was a little taken aback when it arrived as it's about 24 inches long, 8 inches in diameter and very heavy. I'm trying to get it finished and back to the gentleman in case it goes off and I end up in orbit. Do you know how I go about finding the international Space Station in the event that it does? The crew will get a big surprise when they see me knocking on the widow. Best wishes, Alan.

Alan Simpson Hi Alan, you have plenty of time for miniatures because they are for September I think. So, you can concentrate on your rocket project. When it comes to time to launch it at the International Space Station you had better get your maths right because it's a moving target and you only get one chance. However, I have faith in you and would really like to be there for the launch and subsequent obliteration of the space station. Best Wishes, Brendan.

MARK Baid Instead of competing, maybe we should work together and offer ourselves as male supermodels and state that we must be hired together, you don't get one without the other. That would make us very wealthy. Best Wishes, Brendan.

Those are small ... very small. Very nice detail for being so small. They would be very nice for a restrictive diet. Seconds? NO PROBLEM! Dieters love seconds that are no problem. Another dibber / vampire staker, very cool. What do you plant at 21 cm? Ohhh yeah, need that depth to hit vampire hearts. The deep bands will keep the dibber from coming out easily, very good dual use design. Very nice Alls, making 2 is cool and they look nice. Since you can't have fire arms they'd be kinda handy to carry around. Kinda short but very stout and they'll go through about anything. Push stick / worm shockers ... Brilliant! Just hook up some electrical wires and plug em in. I have some of those. With the 220 volts though it might just nuke em in stead of scare them up. Not sure. And ... since Ireland is kind of a big ol green sponge, you may electrocute yourself.
@bmacwoodturning20359 жыл бұрын
tblbaby LOL, you would be hard pushed to get one Rice Crispy in that wee bowl. The dibbers need t be long to accommodate Leek seedlings which are planted deep to blanch the stems as they grow. See, there's a reason for everything. Worm shockers, you'll have Peta jumping all over me now. Best Wishes, Brendan.
@tblbaby9 жыл бұрын
BMac Woodturning ahh, planting leaks in vampires. Good vid for October maybe. I figure you don't do much without cause :) Peta does worms? They are worms, If Peta doesn't hate a person, they're not a worthy member of the human race probably. Peta talks stuff to bring in $, but they mass murder pets they "rescue" and try to hide them in big dumpsters (bins) & get caught. I put the worms on hooks and go out and catch & eat sea kittens! Shocking them out of ground is the least of their worries ... buhahaha! With the birds too!
@bmacwoodturning20359 жыл бұрын
tblbaby Yeah, I found out about the dog cruelty videos PETA made from my son. I never did support them because I thought they were too militant and, essentially, animals don't come first. Starving cat Vs Starving baby. No contest in my eyes.

Be careful you will wash off that New care smell
@bmacwoodturning20359 жыл бұрын
Tony Banner LOL, the new car smell is more synthetic than I remember it many years when I last bought a new car. I need to get mats for it but the garage wanted $400 for a set of mats and a fill of petrol so I wasn't going to pay that. I'm seeing a guy in about an hour who does mats so, hopefully, he'll sort me out.

Is it cheating if I send you miniature fruit to display in your bowl? :D The awls are gorgeous, thank you so much - and there's history in them too!
@bmacwoodturning20359 жыл бұрын
Oonagh McAreavy Thanks oonagh, I'm glad you like them. Miniature fruit... there's an idea. I'll measure the bowl and let you know the size. The competition isn't until September but fruit won't affect the judging, it's the wood items that they look at. Daei
