Stud Country

Stud Country, a Los Angeles-based queer country western line dancing event, was created to preserve Los Angeles' little known 50+ year queer line dancing tradition. Despite its success and fiercely committed community, the event is set to lose its venue due to gentrification.

I started going to Oil Can Harry’s in the early ‘80’s. I’m straight and loved to dance and watch the male couples partner. You wanna see 2 male cowboys 2 step go to Dallas. I hope they find a new space.

This film is all about inclusivity and positivity. I cannot even imagine this negativity saying, close disco dancing🕺 💃was possible (albeit not probable) and kinda sounds like an oxymoron. Why would anyone want to inappropriately attribute anything negative whatsoever against this beautiful and expertly crafted story? I certainly hope a new dance floor is found very soon for all of Stud Country.
