Broasted chicken is not boiled and roasted chicken, it's delicious fried chicken! | The Bucket List

This week, Jenn is joined by our own Cooking Editor, Genevieve Ko to relive birthday parties from her childhood. The two go bowling down the road from Broaster Kitchen in Montebello, where Genevieve tells Jenn is her favorite fried chicken.
Broaster chicken, the trademarked term for a specific line of pressure fryers, is almost a franchise. Owners of the fryers are the only places where the term "Broasted" can be used and are given recommended seasoning and dredges for their chicken. It's up to the individual restaurants to decide whether or not to use those seasonings in the creation of their chicken.

Wow, cannot believe this place is still around. Used to get chicken from there all time in the 70's. And now I finally know what 'broasted chicken' actually is! Sadly, that bowling alley brings back bad memories though - had my new motocross bike stolen there as a kid. :(

I use to work at beverly hospital and go to this place at least once a week. Pretty darn good chicken for sure. Great pies too

Used to frequent this place in HS. They had GREAT cream pies, too. I no longer live minutes away, but that being said, I am only about 17 miles South. Funny thing, I recently thought of this place and my friend said she still goes and it's still the same! I'm going...

Broasted is nothing more than bootleg KFC really popular overseas with no secret herbs and spices. They have them in tons of gas stations and mom and pop stores around me. Issue I have is they sell these machines to people who make it in huge batches then let it set around because no one is really coming in. Not a great business idea and the chicken is often not great. Would be better to include flavors from their cultures so you get a little variety instead of depending on a frying gimmick to sell product.

As someone from the middle east, our broasted chicken beats KFC by a long shot. The flavor is there and the chicken is always cooked well, unlike at KFC where it's a recipe for food poisoning. Seems like the problem is the mom and pop store owners not knowing how to flavor their chicken.

broaster actually patented their process in 1954, the colonel didn't patent the kfc process until 1957. so kfc is really bootleg broasted chicken.
