I can guarantee you that the guys that this snare drum was made for, are not tuning it that low. They're kinda crazy, but in an amazing wow kind of way. Banda players tune their snare drums to sound almost like marching band snares; with Clear Remo Pinstripes on the batter side. I'm sure LP made this with that in mind and made a snare drum that can take beatings, punishment, and abuse. I feel like LP modeled this after the usual snare drum made in Mexico for Banda; a lot of deep, steel snare drums with a lot of wires and 12 lugs. I like it. I like to see these bigger American brands notice banda because I think Banda is perhaps the most popular style of music in Mexico, but outside of Mexico, it kinda falls under the radar. I also like to see that people who play other genres are looking at this and considering getting it for their sets.

I totally agree with you on this, as a Banda drummer and educator I know how it is to not get much love outside of the genre. One of the biggest reasons is that a lot of our percussionist learn by rote and there is no standard method that is followed by all. Banda is a beautiful genre of music that if you study its history you will find a lot of similarities to what Jazz musicians went through in their beginnings. I'm trying to add a bit more of knowledge to the genre by incorporating what I know and building a foundation to beginning banda percussionists. Totally love LP's products and really enjoy that they are finally paying attention to Banda which has always been a big market for their timbales. Greetings from Los Angeles CA. 🥁✌🏼

I'm impressed. Sounds great and is versatile for such a inexpensive snare drum, plus it looks good too. LP knocked it out of the park with this one.

That is a LOT of drum for the money - what a bargain! And sounds amazing with the snares off.

I thought it sounded good with the snares off too!! Usually when a drummer plays with the snares off, it sounds so horrible that it turns me off and makes me yell at the drummer in my mind; because the snares off serves basically one purpose: to turn off the noise while the string instruments tune. NOT to be actually played. Stop trying to be "experimental". Now, FINALLY, a snare drum has a good sound when the snares are off!!!

@@DHTC888 I assume you don't play with toms in your kit then? Because you know...the snare drum without snares is a tom...

It might be worth noting on here that LP was purchased by DW in 2015, so that may speak to the high quality, and further accredit the phenomenal price point.

I played a festival with Bob Marley's old band The Wailers, and their drummer used this snare drum. He had it cranked up like a timbale and it sounded fantastic, especially for the music.

This snare was designed by LP to offer it to Banda players, a type of traditional mexican music, that tend to use a hig tension on their snare to obtain a bunch of crack, and a brighter sound. This type of tunning demands the strongest lugs ever!, like the type of crack of a marching band snare, but with a wide decay range to sounds for days. This was a great review like always this channel does, but I think they should test this snare with more tension to obteain the hight pitch for wich this snare was create, and test it playing some traditional Banda patterns, like sones, polka, etc..

+Drummer's Review Great demo, gents! I had completely forgotten about this amazing snare, so thanks for that!!! I had seen & heard it being demo'd in another KZbin video of coverage of LP's Booth at the 2018 NAMM show along with the new Banda Cowbells and thought to myself, "Now THAT would make for a unique and amazing sounding snare for my kit!", haha. But as I said, I had completely forgotten about it. :-/ Thanks for the reminder and for confirming my suspicions of it being awesome! 👍
