No actually it was the opposite. The phrase was “hindi tumitigil” which means “does not stop” but they chose to stop the music in the middle of that phrase, creating the opposite effect

@@SuperPatruch late reply, but I think it was done to put emphasis not on the phrase, but the word itself. Whenever people sing this song in front of a crowd, it's always that specific word (tumitigil) that the crowd sings along with. Which in turn also highlights the *meaning of the phrase*

The pause is really good in this song because it's right on time with the word "tumitigil" or stopping. I remember this during my high school days. As long as there's a guitar for a jamming session, this would be always played. MAGBALIK is really a good song.

Callalily is a flower usually used for funerals here in Philippines as it symbolizes death or purificafion of a departed soul. But fun fact is they named the band not from that flower but from a type of bread that the vocalist loved to eat when they were starting out.

Drummer actually started very young, he's already so good on 3rd grade of elementary and playing at school as part of the band that performs weekly for praise and worship (interms of catholics a weekly mass), he's also the drummer on his local church, he can also freestyle a lot on school events, not sure if he took the academy for it, never really bothered to ask till we graduated and separated in highschool since everyone just went to different colleges far away from each other and as all connections goes, it eventually fades away. Was just startled in college when I saw him on TV playing the drums for Callalily. Cool guy.

Oh my Gosh! Callalily! I love this band and particularly this song. Very nostalgic. It's still on my playlist. Never gets old. This song reminds me of our high school days. After school, or even during breaks, someone from our class who has a guitar would pull it out and just play any OPM songs that he likes and most of the class will sing along with him. Callalily is one of those "Ph legendary" bands. The addicting rhythm at the beginning that is being carried out in the entire song, the soft ballad of Kean's vocal, and his artistic bandmates are pure talent. Also, the complete absence of instruments at the last chorus wherein the main vocalist sings "tumitigil" means "to stop" or in this context "to end" only shows off his genius arrangement and interpretation of this song. It doesn't only imply a breathe to create drama, but a comparison of his endless love to the earth's continuous rotation and the river's everlasting flow. I fcking miss Oktoberfest. Magbalik hits different when I was in High School, but I really enjoyed listening to this song live. They went to music conservatory, so their playing method is kinda polished. When they perform live, Kuya Lemuel(drummer) really looks so cool. Kuya Aaron (the bassist) is my favorite among them. They are the nicest people.

MAGBALIK is the go-to jam song with the guitar we usually do in high school. But I first heard it back in elementary when I was in 5th grade, that was 2005-2006. The intro played on guitar is so famous that if you play it for at least 5 sec. People will recognize that's MAGBALIK 😊🎵🎶
