Kakai first started out as a theater actress. She was discovered by Ricky Rivero in 2003 after her explosive appearance in the play, Alikabok. Rivero asked her to audition for a drama series directed by Lauri Dyogi titled Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay.[1] She then started appearing on television shows and movies through supporting roles, but was recognized when she appeared as the villainous and evil Matilda in Kampanerang Kuba, Angelina in Kokey and most recently as Marj in the Filipino-Thai movie, Suddenly It's Magic. From 2010-2011, she did the horror-comedy sitcom, My Darling Aswang, in TV5 but stayed with ABS-CBN.

The phrase in the song "BAKIT NGA BA" signifies wonder in the person saying it, as if thinking to herself/himself why something happens or is happening. Directly translated, it means "why is it". Kakai did well here. That style helped her a lot. She is a good singer, sings much better than a whole lot of people. IMO, though, she struggles sometimes. As others have said, she's more known as a movie/TV comedienne. She dabbles in theater acting, too. In fact, she was part of the local musical RAK OF AEGIS, which songs are all Aegis songs.

Kakai Bautista is more popularly known as a comedienne/actress but it"s not surprising that she can sing well. Most (if not all) comediennes in the Philippines are excellent singers too. Bakit (WHY) NGA and BA are usually used in asking questions to emphasize the degree/quality of emotion from the speaker. You can use either of the two, but it means a high degree of emotion when used BOTH. They are also aesthetically added to end a Pinoy sentence with a feeling? I would love for you to have Kakai in your podcast. She'd give a nice insight about singing in comedy bars or bars in general. She's a great singer but although beauty is relative sometimes opportunity in singing career is given to the more commercial 'beauty'. It's one of the reason why Jaya on your podcast express her doubt because of her hair and complexion. Anyway, I adore Kakai's voice, range, and energy. Love her. P.S. i saw a comment about K Brosas.
