I'm taking Spanish as an extra curriculum even though it was one of my first languages and everyone in my school is saying why are you taking Spanish when it is one of your first languages... I'M NOT THE BEST AT SPANISH OK, THERE IS A LOT OF ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT.
@lucasvillar4651
@lucasvillar4651 7 жыл бұрын
There's proper Spanish and then there's slang Spanish, if you don't live in a "proper" Spanish environment you speak Spanish but not standard good Spanish. It's the same if an English speaker spoke English only at home in a Spanish speaking country without having an English class for natives at school, like the one they have in Britain, Canada, the US... I'm pretty sure the children of British immigrants here in Spain don't speak proper English either.

Spanish is my first language. I was adopted around 10 years old. So that's why my name is different than my birth name. My adoptive parents encouraged me to keep speaking Spanish and to teach them. They both now speak it at a conversational level. In high school we had to take a language. I chose Spanish. My Spanish teacher knew Spanish was my first language but didn't care at all. Jajaja

D Franklin34 it has absolutely nothing to do with the generation, it’s been like that since the beginning of time. There are some who aren’t that great and others who are, it has to do with how recently their family moved to their current location and also what location they are living in. It has been the exact same since people first immigrated into different countries. You naturally lose fluency in a language you don’t have to speak regularly.
@lucasvillar4651
@lucasvillar4651 7 жыл бұрын
Kobe Alicea well, if you speak it at home, I don't know how you'd lose fluency. I would try to keep the language if my native language was from somewhere else, with books, films, media... I mean, my native language is not English and I'm talking with English speaker posting an English comment, it's not that hard to keep any language nowadays...

@jcosk8
@jcosk8 7 жыл бұрын
@Nat-qi4pz
@Nat-qi4pz 7 жыл бұрын

It happened to me when I learned french, but in the case of french is just memory or more subtle. The special c is the equivalent of every c in spanish that i like a s. and the trick for Ê is that try looking at the word and add an s after the e. You will notice that some words sound the same as some in english or spanish. Like forêt = forest, , fête = “fest(ival)”, intérêt = interest. Hope this help

I'm Venezuelan.

@lucasvillar4651

@lucasvillar4651
@lucasvillar4651 7 жыл бұрын

@lucasvillar4651
@lucasvillar4651 7 жыл бұрын
That is not true. The Spanish Royal Academy (Real Academia Española) standardises the language rules, the only thing that varies is the usage, but proper Spanish is the same everywhere, proper Spanish is the one that follows the official rules. It's really simple, American English doesn't have different rules from British English, does it? Why would Spanish? On top of that English doesn't have an institution standardising it, Spanish does, things like neighbor or neighbour in English don't happen in Spanish because of the RAE. Proper Spanish is proper Spanish everywhere.

Lucas Villar British English and American English have minor grammatical differences (dreamed, dreamt; the usage of "already" as a past tense verb)
@lucasvillar4651
@lucasvillar4651 7 жыл бұрын
Selvaggia Aguillon well, the usage varies in different Spanish “versions”, some regions use some tenses instead of other in certain circumstances, Spanish has a very extensive verb system compared with English, this means that there are many past tenses or subjunctive tenses and different conjugations depending on the type of verb and the person doing the action... so there’s no need to alter grammar to regionalise it, you can just use one of those more than the other while all are correct. For example, in Spain there’s vosotros and ustedes, in Latin America they don’t use vosotros, they always use ustedes, it is not wrong because ustedes is a way to say it but in Spain you have two forms both used, using both correct forms is a characteristic of Spain’s Spanish using one correct form is typical of Latin America. Most grammatical differences are that Latin American variants, especially Mexican Spanish, are closer to (American) English and borrow from native languages while European Spanish always tends to be closer to the other Latin languages (French and Italian) and it forms new words instead of borrowing from native American languages. There’s also the typical: mobile/cell phone (teléfono móvil/celular), elevator/lift (elevador/ascensor)... that are the exact same in Latin Am. Spanish versus European Spanish as in American/British English. We have differences but the proper way is to use all forms in circumstances where they can be used.
