People thought she was too mature. She was married with a couple step-kids. The young audience of Idol wasn't connecting with her sophistication. I suspect something kept Melinda out of the finales.

LaKisha had 2 great moments during idol, but throughout the season she really lost control of her vocals and thats why if this was a top 15 or 20 list she would just outside of the top 10... here is my additions 11. Love Fantasia. but I think voice, control and technique..Latoya is better. I knew though that Jennifer Hudson had the voice and range that these two could not match.. she was just intimidated by Idol and Simon. Look at J.Hud. now... BETTER THAN ANY IDOL.
