Its interesting when russian is teaching latvian in english :D Had some troubles with Ģ pronunciation. And classic russian fyorst not first :D But in general nice video and idea :)
@LatvianTutor Жыл бұрын
When I speak in Russian they say I am from abroad, when I speak in Latvian people say I am from somewhere else and in English same story, so I have to live with it! Even Latvians themselves pronounce Ģ differently depending on their roots and which part of Latvia they are from. Thank you for feedback.

Interesting ! In Brazil, we use the word "tchau" (it sounds exactly like "Čau") but only to say goodbye. By the way, we speak Portuguese (Brazilian variety).
@LatvianTutor2 жыл бұрын
Word ''tchau'' or ''čau'' is used in other languages too not sure only if it has a different meaning, besides hi or bye.

At least in my town we use čau to say hi or goodbye 100%>

Oh, gosh !! "Fui" is the Portuguese word for "I went". And in some regions, they use "fui" as a slang to say that they are leaving right now.

Fascinating how one word in different languages can mean something completely different. Could I ask you, why are you learning Latvian?

Thank you Viktorija for the interesting lessons. Just one question: the 11th letter “G” you write with a “bird” on top but in the video the typed word “Gimenes” is with a comma below the G. Is both correct?

Yes, both are correct

hi ma'am please do one video related jobs because im coming to Riga ma"am
@LatvianTutor5 ай бұрын
Video related jobs, like what? Give me some examples. In Latvia it is highly difficult to find a job if you can't speak Latvian and Russian. Most people work for Bolt or Wolt delivery services, some for international companies where you don't need language and knowing English is enough. For most of jobs you will need to learn language at least to A2 language level so you can speak to customers and your team.

The Latvian language has caught my attention for a relatively long time and I also learned how to pronunce each letter online. However, I met a problem in distinguishing the letter Ģ and the letter Ķ. Then I went to ask Wikipedio and it said that /ʄ/ is for the letter Ģ while /c/ for the letter Ķ. But to be honest, this was not helpful at all...
@LatvianTutor6 ай бұрын
Pronunciation of letters Ģ and Ķ will come with time and practice. Still come Latvians pronounce Ķ as T or K and Ģ as G. While learning different words and getting used to the sound of Latvian language, you will able to distinguish and pronanuce them correctly or at least super similar to how it is. Language takes training and time.
