That is a really cool find, I have never heard of this fan and it’s very interesting to finally see one. they kind of remind me of the GE three wing box fans, which are somewhat similar in design. Thank you for sharing this video about a pretty uncommon fan and I was super happy to learn more about it.

Nice find! These aren't super common fans... You were correct when you guessed there is a higher tier model! I believe yours is the middle tier model and the Ultra 20 that I have is the top of the line model! Its a 3 speed reversible with thermostat and a pilot light too! They're wild fans with the huge control box on the one side! I also find it interesting how thin these fans are too! They were definitely ahead of their time with that aspect lol! But yeah these are amazing fans! Definitely take it apart oil and revarnish it (these also use speed coils too I believe so make sure you revarnish those too) and then run it!
@JordanU6 ай бұрын
Thanks for the information, I didn't realize these were controlled via speed coil.

Now that is a true piece of nestolgia that screams super high performance . I honestly think it's a shame that these discontinued when air conditioning units came into existence. Nothing against them , but I prefer these vintage box fans for a number of reasons. Also due to the fact they do consume less electricity, and the reason I say this is because I knew fans before air conditioning units. I'm looking forward to seeing the rewiring and service of this fan I enjoyed the video Jordan.

I'm considering buying this exact fan to use in my living room. Did you go ahead and put a grounded cord on it? Anything else for safety sakes that you ran into that you might share?
@JordanUАй бұрын
This will perform better and last longer than any of the ones made today, but if you're concerned about safety, this probably isn't the best selection unless you're able and willing to perform heavy modifications. I don't believe these have any motor protection at all, thermal or impedance.

What’s tragic is even those consumers who are willing to pay a premium for a quality built American made fan like this have no options to do so. We have abandoned our factories and the jobs they provided and now rely on China for most everything and it’s all made to break within 10 years (if that long).

Its a darn shame in the era of "how cheap can I make it" and "how can i make reoccurring transactions" Gone is the pride and purpose rip
@JordanU7 ай бұрын
It is very sad indeed. I would much rather buy something once and use it for decades.
@ExitSignAficionado7 ай бұрын
It sadly will not change unless the mindset of consumers changes. From the industrial revolution though the 1960s we did not really have any option to buy anything but locally made products at a premium price because that was all that was available. Unfortunately most domestic manufacturing cannot compete with overseas. Most people would not pay several thousands of dollars for a made in USA Zenith TV when they can pay $1000 for a Samsung, or less for the TCL brand. They will all become obsolete around the same time(if the TCL lasts that long).
@JordanU7 ай бұрын
@@ExitSignAficionado This is true. Consumers are very much to blame for the problem we currently face.
@ExitSignAficionado7 ай бұрын
@@JordanU I think it is a lot to do with the culture to have latest and greatest, which devolved to just having the latest. This issue spreads beyond USA of course, it is pretty much global. Companies like temu thrive off of this, and the ones who suffers the most are cheap and sometimes slave labor followed by the environmental impacts with a lack of manufacturing regulations and consumer waste. As long as people have something new and flashy to show off this mindset will continue like it has for over half a century already. It has become increasingly difficult for me to try to repair anything without any consumer support from manufacturers.

Oil every six months. You never see that on fans these days. But in my opinion this is definitely not very efficient. I wonder if something like this could be re-created using a DC motor so that it would have 10 speeds and smart functionality.
