(For jazz theory nerds. Not trying to flex - genuinely find harmony interesting) I'm referring to the chords over the alternating C and G bass line (0:32-0:40). After the first two chords Cadd6 (C A C E G), Ab7/G (G C Eb Gb Ab), every other chord is a close-voiced minor seventh in second inversion ascending by semitone (I think). But what I like is that this can imply some pretty cool jazz chords, eg. the third chord is Db E F# A over the C, which imo could imply a C13#11b9 with no seventh. Similarly the tenth and final chord is Ab B Db E over the G, implying G13#11b9 if you hear the phantom seventh. The eighth chord is also nice, F# A B D over C which forms a Cmaj13#11 (no third).

Omg we love an early Christmas queen!! Laufey has this somewhat sultry yet bright and joyful voice, it works wonderfully with a classic like 'Santa Baby'! So many covers try too hard and add too much power in places where it isn't needed, it's a song which is meant to be soothing and simple but it's refreshing to see a smoothly sung subtle version for once (ofc with a Laufey essence). It's a respectable tribute to the OG version sung by Eartha Kitt with her stunning voice! ❤️❤️❤️
