Launch CReader 3001. Best Budget OBD2 Reader for your car?

In this video I review the Launch CReader 3001 OBD reader for your car. This is used to find out what the check engine light on your car is telling you. It reads trouble codes as well as monitors vehicle systems and also clears out old trouble codes. For under $20, can you go wrong? I'll share in this video.

If you are the average DIY car guy you definitely want an Onboard Diagnostic tool. You probably don't need one with a fancy computer interface or an expensive one unless you are a mechanic. Let me know in the comments what you think of this one.

Sean, never did see a menu item that lets you turn off the check engine light. It says in the feature it does turm off the MIL (check engine light) but Im having problems finding a video that confirms this and where in the menu this feature is located. Good video though. Deepest dive Ive seen yet for the 3001. Thanks!

You may have to clear all the codes to get that done..i think i might be wrong

It's definitely in there. That said don't clear the code without fixing the problem or it will just come back again.

I had a problem while downloading the obd2 creader 3001 update. Which led to clearing the device memory What's the solution

Hi mate,I got a creeder 3001,iv a lexus,I'm getting a p1229 fault code,can you tell Me,does this mean I hav a sensor fail ! There is very little info an line

I'm seeing info that it could be a fuel pump issue. I wouldn't start with that, though, because that's a difficult project. It could just be the wrong voltage one time. Maybe clear the code and see if it comes back.

Thanks for response sean,so you think fuel pump,only thng is my actual car still starts every time,but when it's running,all of a sudden the revs drop,and the car nearly cuts out,then it won't rev over 2500,and the engine shakes when revs drop,after a min,car goes bk to normal for 10 15 min but process repeats,no power wen It happens

@cheryldalton1360 I just looked up the code and it said fuel pump is likely. I always go with the least expensive possible item first. Many fuel pumps now require you to drop the gas tank. It could also be a bad fuel line, a fuel leak or maybe even a clogg3d fuel filter if your car has one. I'd go with the cheapest easiest fix first (like a $20 item that takes 30 minutes to fix) then maybe other items. With any repair it's not a great idea to throw a ton of money on parts only to find out "that wasn't it."
