saw Rory with this band in 1973. they opened up for Deep Purple and stole the show that night leaving the crowd in an absolute frenzy. that night i didn't know who he was but the next day i bought everything he made and was a fan for life.

Saw them on the same tour. Middle act was Fleetwood Mac who were mediocre at best - before the more well known lineup. Yeah - San Diego Arena. He hit the ground running and slammed us into the back wall of the place. I just remember after deep purple finished I couldn’t hear for 4 days. Years later I took a hearing test for a job and learned I lost 3% of my hearing at the top. Guessing it was from that night. We learned about about him after that.

Was heartbreaking to learn of Rory's death back in the day. Had been a fan and always grateful for the many guitar licks I learned from his albums. In the '70s and '80s was in a band that we named Ballyshannon. That was long before the internet existed. Many people would ask where the name Ballyshannon came from or meant? Simple....That is where Rory was from. We made a point to introduce as many people here in the U.S. to his music as we could.

I got to see him in 1985. I could not believe he was coming to a club in my little town. I took a friend who had never heard of Rory before. We got a table right in front. Rory played over a couple hours, just jamming away. My friend was amazed. Rory got a new fan that night. After the show, he came out to greet his fans. I even got to shake his hand! It was a night I'll never forget.

Never heard this played by the ‘classic’ four-piece line-up, only by the three-piece of the early 70s. I saw him in ‘74 and ‘77, and it wasn’t part of his set on either occasion. Great version, highlighting Rory’s underrated skill as an accompanist- something he never got to do in the three-piece! Btw, the ‘R’ in ‘RtB’ stands for Rory…

That's the beauty from the craftsmen at work. I would listen to the section again and try to focus on how well the band really works on the spot (live), while Rory comes up with that little goldmine of a riff during his solo. You can see how chuffed Rory and the band get when something magic happens, especially how they figure out what to do and how well they timed everyone stopping at the same beat. The 3:36 you are on about is you are actually skipping the best part of the creativity. Thank you.
