* THE ORIGINAL DRAIN INSTALL WAS DONE IN 2012(ISH) WHEN A 1 1/2" DRAIN WAS ACCEPTABLE FOR A LAUNDRY. BY TODAY'S STANDARD, IT NEEDS TO BE 2" I COMMENT ON THIS IN MY "Laundry box #2" VIDEO. THIS LAUNDRY WAS INSPECTED AND PASSED WITH PERMITS.*
In this video I remove the old set up. I explain the plumbing system and replace with a modern laundry box. I give tips, tricks and break down of time and material.

Good eye you are correct. The video is about installing a laundry box, not about the electrical. Nothing with the addition(The laundry)is actually done correctly. No permits were pulled and the crew that did the work cut corners everywhere. They didnt even glue the ABS together when they installed it. Staples, clips, merrets, nails, etc, were missed or was simply ignored. The build of the addition is a 2/10. Thank-you for taking time out of your day to comment and help me with my channel, I will install a GFCI to set a good example for other homeowners.

Regarding the vent pipe going through the roof...would it be worth the time and effort if the inspector required it to be?

Thanks for your qustion, yes it would be. To move the laundry somewhere else would be even more tme and effort than installing a flashing above.

Washer drains are 2" and glue should be abs to pvc specific, different than abs glue

"Washer drains are 2" and glue should be abs to pvc specific, different than abs glue" By TODAY'S standard, yes you are correct, the drain needs to be 2". The original install was done about 10 years ago when 1 1/2 was acceptable. I pulled permits on this job and it passed. That what is meant when I say " inspector" As in plumbing inspector. As for using transitional glue( Between the pipe and box) We cap the pipe off for test. Then install the box after our drainage inspection. This joint will never see water. I have also never have failed for this nor have I had a leak from this joint. I will add into the description about the size of the drain, This was one of my earlier video's in my KZbin career so I should of been clear about it. Thanks for your input and helping me to improve my channel.

I don't understand why opening the main shutoff valve quickly would cause pinhole leaks.

As stuff gets old, it breaks more easily. If you refill the system too quickly, the pipes can expand too much causing leaks. We want to control the rate of expansion through metering of the volume of water refilling the system. I hope that helps.

Yeah...it doesn't cause pinhole leaks....it may blow off a fitting since he's using PEX A type lines.... pinholes happen in copper lines from not reaming out the inside of the pipe after cutting

I don’t like the box technically that should be recessed into the wall, I would have went with a standard watts washing machine valve, would have saved you a ton of time and look better than a box sitting outside of the wall

The laundry in the house is an addition, nothing in the addition was technically built correctly. If you have a Watts box available, go with that. I bought what the supplier had. I upgraded the laundry into this box being cost effective, I won't turn a 2 hour job into a week just so it looks better in a house that will be torn down in 10 years. The premise of my channel is to DIY and save money.
