I have met dozens upon dozens of celebrities and my all-time favorite is Laura. I worked for a furniture moving company and she was moving from the Hollywood Hills to a new location (non-disclosure agreement). She was simply charming. First thing we moved into the new place was a large couch. We carry it through the front door and the interior decorator was not yet sure sure where she wanted this piece as we held it waiting to bring it into the front room with a sunken floor. Laura was attentively watching us stand there slightly straining to keep the couch suspended. Laura noticed the tattoo on my leg and asked me about it. I told there's an extensive story and she immediately patted the spot next to her and invited me to sit and discuss. The interior decorator was staring daggers like "don't you dare". I said we were busy working but I would be happy to regale at the end of the day. She made sure we were hydrated and not uncomfortable all day. Quick with a joke while having a clear vision how she wanted warmth and friendliness in the house. Eight hours later our day was done. She made the effort to track down this odd furniture guy (now an archaeologist) and have him tell the tattoo story. So interested, so sincere. She made me feel welcome and familiar. She is one that looked at everyone else as friends, as kind caring cohorts, as desired guests. Of all people on this world Laura is one with whom I wish to hang out. Cool peeps.

Fantastic anecdote. Said as much about Dern as a person as anything we heard above.

Interesting career path. I'm a Caucasian in Texas in the anti-Real Estate Developer mode of progressive moderate tempered greed mode for 30 years discovered I'm living on a piece of land Clovis and Tonkawa were camping on over the ages. Archeology happens every time I dig a hole for a plant or a post. The internal mental review of humanity makes real people like Ted, Laura and Woody accessible to we nothing nobody's (speaking only for myself not you). I think introspective people belong together but the nature of introspective people makes it difficult to gather. Perhaps eventually the internet blather and misdirection gets people listening more to what we are losing allowing unregulated Real Estate Developers to destroy everything we depend upon.

@Trea-pl4xr My intellect is suspect and often full of artificial sweeteners and fillers. It helps to use artificial flavoring to soften the blow of the actual impact of greed, mass consumption and overpopulation without any politicians willing to speak these truths. It might impact campaign donations doncha know.

Every time I tune into one of these, outside my Conan comedy comfort zone, I'm very impressed. Loved the Eric Andre interview, and this one's great too! There's a warmth and sincerity here that's all too rare these days, everyone's always so jovial and willing to share. Great stuff! As for Laura Dern, Blue Velvet has long been on my short list of all time great films. Scary as hell, plus very weird? Yes!

Ted Danson showed the genuine kindness out of this strong woman from jurassic park perfectly. This is a merit that not only every host, but every person with a person they care should have. Truly a different but highly inspirational interviewer with conan.

I've always thought, and said for years now I would love if Laura Dern or Mary Steenburgen was my mom... they both always seemed so kind, caring, funny, and compassionate. (Mine was the exact opposite of what you would want as a mother.) I was not surprised after watching this to find out they are close friends, but it was awesome to learn.

Woody is so cool. This makes sense the good people are around each other. Thanks Tedward. Everybody knows you liked that Whoopie Pie. Hey, I still love Whoopie. She might do well on her own show. Or with Ted. Why not? I want to see more Woody and Laura Dern movies. Notice how they like real scripts?

Laura is a very talented actress, I saw her first in Rambling Rose with Robert Duval and had a crush on her as a teenager. But later I began to realise how much range she has an actress because of all the variety of characters she played. She still looks amazing for her age and seems like a beautiful human being. Jurassic Park wouldn’t have been the same without her in the movie 🎥 😊

I just watched 'Wilson', the movie Harrelson and Dern talk about. It's really good. Very funny, dark yet hopeful, acerbic - realistic. Their performances are emotionally engaging and relatable. Also featuring the amazing Judy Greer. I would never have heard of this movie had it not been for this podcast. I thoroughly enjoyed it. You should check it out.

Laura Dern for President would be even better. By far. Why can't we get the nice things? But I suppose turning away from The Drumpf is some progress. I was hoping First Woman POTUS would be a stellar woman like Laura Dern or Michelle Obama. Back to the topic of Laura's care for her Mom: If you miss the opportunity to bond with your parents at the end over estate greed, you lose your soul. The closure and closeness of doing the compassionate thing is priceless. You don't have to carry the massive guilt that shameless greed gives you.

It's been obligatory on talk shows since the birth of talk shows. In private, probably a healthier mix of flattery, teasing, and sharing of dislikes in the profession.

Loveeee Lisa and the host was great, too. It didn't feel like 2 celebs from hollywood are conversing. But sad thing about this entire conversation was when the anchor brought up "so much happening in the world" they both simply neglected the 100sand1000s of kids and elders getting slaughtered in Palestine, Syria and Lebanon meanwhile these too giant of the industry brushed it off under the carpet and comfortably engaged in "climate change/oceanography crisis" kinda issues which are undoubtedly of utmost concern but if YA know ya know, right? Like give me a minute. Americans will either do everything to appease the liberal mass by "opps I just formulated an opinion, gotta be more careful" xD or it's the then crazy nut heads who go around shooting and blasting entire school and worship places and the perpetrators end up getting vindicated cause inevitably "these are young mentally challenged youth who weren't aware of their actions"

Perhaps you didn't grow up when Americans were grooving TOGETHER on Motown and Rock and Roll. We didn't want to play video games. We played music, went outdoors. We rode bicycles and went jogging, reading the morning newspaper.
