Nice to hear Laura, whom I consider to be one of Britains finest singer/ songwriters, covering a song from the genius that is Townes van Zandt - and doing a bloody good job of it !

Good lord. I think I just died and went to heaven ❤️ My most revered musical goddess Laura Marling covering my most deeply treasured Townes Van Zandt song. Pure bliss. I think I shed a tear...

Always hoping to find that girl who can play me Townes when I’m feeling blue.

I love how she mixed in the Colorado Girl riff a bit and just totally changed up the chord progression. Awesome cover.

Love this - the rolling accompaniment is really different from Townes' sparse flatpicking, but it's just as intimate and emotional as his. TY Laura - I think many of us would love to hear you cover other Townes songs. Brava.

I've covered this song for years Townes Van Zandt style but I really enjoy Laura Marling's version. Beautiful.

+ludwigdrummers Never meet your heroes...she's great but seems shy, cold, aloof...which is fair enough.

hi kutx austin what is the tuning used for this song ??????///
@MrAechim9 жыл бұрын
+arnold jerone hey i'm pretty sure its open D (DADF#AD). This makes it open E (EBEG#BE) with a capo on 2. It is the same tuning as The Cave and other songs by Mumford & Sons.
@blisteringsolo9 жыл бұрын
+arnold jerone Agreed. IT looks like DADF#AD. She uses it on the song Narrow Road for the Guild Sessions (somewhere on youtube here) and these chords seem similar. It's the same as Hope in the Air, but with the F sharpened.

Laura has two accents, her fake american for copying covers, and her english intro. Which is the real Laura Marling? She suffers from a lack of authenticity.

So also good at that. Interested: why can't she if her accentuation with the accents are great?
