a lot of high end products have cheap ingredients &"are similar to lower end products, most of the time your paying for the name & package, but I think higher ends tend to be more pigmented which does make a big difference.

I work in the personal care/cosmetic industry and the ingredient is pronounced "dime-eth-eh-cone". You're right about it being a silicone and its function is to smooth skin/hair over which is why you may feel it worked better over your under eye area. That being said silicones also function as a shine enhancer so that probably contributed to the flash back. Ok the geek in me is gonna stop now lol great video!

I have been using the Elf HD powder for so long! And I love it. It works for me and my oily skin. I have dry patches and noticeable pores around the nose and this powder does not accentuate both! I use it as an all over powder and refrain from baking because it works so well you don't need to bake with it, just brush it on softly all over to set your make up!

I'm 14, started wearing powder last year, and I've used this elf powder since the beginning! My makeup doesn't look the same at the end of the school day as when I put it on (creasing in my smile lines, redness from acne coming through a bit, a little oily) but this powder does a fine job for the price for sure.

setting powder is not for cover, it's to lock in your make up. you need a separate HD finishing powder to smooth out your skin. as for ELF, it seems like a hybrid of HD and setting.

So I'm kind of a makeup noob/getting there - and I was very surprised to see that you could use a damp beauty blender on your skin right after you applied your foundation. Won't your foundation get wiped off because of that???? I feel like after I've applied my foundation, it does transfer if I touch my face and such (using the Makeup Forever HD foundation with a sponge - not beauty blender). I'm also waiting for my Laura Mercier translucent powder to come, but I didn't know that's how you apply it?? I was planning to just dust it on top of my makeup after I'm done with my makeup routine....

I was thinking of getting some new makeup because I'm getting older and I am starting to see some under eye area issues. I think now that I've seen this video I may go for the ELF brand. They have such a great line for the prices they set. Honestly, love your videos and would you consider doing more videos like this comparing higher end products to drug store products?

Yes, it's definitely smoothing. Try it out and see how you like it. I just checked their website and they also have two other tones-a yellow and a shimmer. :)

Elf HD powder is more similar to makeup forever HD powder so it's more of a finishing powder instead of a setting powder and that's why it smoothes and gives the white cast

I get complements all day since I started using my elf setting powder I have the banana color too. I use a light layer on my whole face and ppl say it looks airbrushed my under eye does crease still but only in the very center.

I personally love the laura mercier powder but to what was said about it being sheer ....umm isnt that the point of a translucent powder? 🤔🤔 but anywho..... and then to not waste any product because i am aware its not price friendly, what i do is that instead of just swiping it off i swipe it across my face to use it to set the rest of my face before moving on using bronzer, highlight, etc. so the process of putting powder (weather pressed or loose) goes on more smoothly ☺️✌🏼️

RCMA all the way. I use Laura Mercier for 15 years, and I feel RCMA is so much better!! I've been using RCMA for about a year and not a day goes by where I get compliments on my complexion. hey usually with silicon based powders you can get away with using less, and if you wait for the powder to set into the skin a bit longer it won't give you flashback! Try using less and take a picture 30min/hour after application and let me know if you have the same problem!

I have both powders. Elf doesn't compare to the LM even close. I hate the Elf powder. You get a big puff of powder when using the Elf. LM is the nicest powder I have used in my life. I've been using powder since the 80's. Ya, I'm old.

There are so many questions and nobody answers them. That´s very sad! Listen, they don´t change the packaging like you say. This one with the brush is the "High Definiition Undereye Powder" not the setting powder. But your question is 4 months ago so I think you´ve got your answers already....
