Hi, I am new in your channel and I must say your garden installations are wonderful and I really like most of the variety of succulents that you use, although I am not a big fan of cactus yet. This arrangement you made is beautiful but from personal experience with the purple tradescantia and the fred ives, those are a full sun bright light type of plants and they will strech as much as possible to reach it, I wish I could show you a picture. Both are fast growers.

Laura mentioned she would be watering this shade arrangement once a week. My question is how the Sansevieria will fair? I’ve been hesitant about mixing Sansevieria’s with other succulents bc I thought their watering needs we’re so minimal. Big fan of all the beautiful work everyone on this site does.

I have to remember to remove most of the soil the plants come in & save it. That’s one of the key tips to fill your Container Pots with Plants not excess Potting Mix.

I think we all need to get used to this kind of heat. Where I live, we had 60 days of temperatures above 100 degrees between April 1 and August 31. We need to think about or install shade before planting a garden. Fortunately I do have a large shaded patio that faces North, so shady most of the day with some dappled sun in the early morning. It's not my property or I'd be planting more trees. Beautiful shade planter. I love blue planters. Thanks

Hi Laura - you always tell us that you keep your dirt. What about the dirt from a plant that got root rot? Is the dirt contaminated and should we toss the entire pot of dirt? Love your videos. I live in Bakersfield - super hot here!

Wonderful shade arrangement. My first memory, while still in a crib, was watching my grandfather plant sansevieria in a huge ornate Italian planter. 🥰 On another note, the lactea crest will look much better in a different color pot, IMO. I have mine in a teal container but sticking with your blue would work very well. Today is day 10 of triple digits. Relief coming tomorrow.

I live the Sansaveria!! I collect all varieties and have leaned that they love North Texas heat. I get the best growth during the summer. As a house plant they thrive off neglect. Outside, during the summer I find myself watering every other day!!

My pots also stain the floors. It’s the worse!!!! I love the look of pots hitting the floor so I have been avoiding putting saucers. They do sell some saucers in the shape of pizza slices and I’ll consider putting those.

Not a fan at all of filling pots or anything with anything other than soil. Soil is relatively inexpensive, let’s be real. But when you fill it with packing peanuts or plastic bottles, you’re raising the area the plants have to work with for roots. Messes with drainage too. Plus, you’re adding inorganic material to something that should be fairly organic. Just buy another bag of soil, I promise it won’t break the bank.

Also a great way to "recycle" or find new use for plastic etc

The Sansevieria is gorgeous; however, the marking colours are wasted in this planting. I love blue, the Bromeliad colour is clashing. Great plants - wrong shades of them in MY book. Laura forgot restraint.

Another very helpful tip-of-the-day, thank you!! I'm an avid indoor gardener and I lean towards succulents and cacti. I've recently been helping my neighbor, who owns a small Taqueria nearby with a backyard patio space, by bringing him cuttings from my cactus, sanseveria, euphorbia milii and aloe pups for small table-top plants. I up-cycled Cafe Bustello tins into pots. It actually helps me because I have a hard time throwing away cuttings. He has one corner with a lot of shade and I have been wondering what could go there next year....now I have some ideas for spring! One day I hope to share some photos of my plant collection with you, I've learned a lot watching your videos! Greetings from Brooklyn
