Living in in a right handed world, we left handed individuals naturally adapt to deal with it. Resulting in our superiority over the right handers who are completely dumbfounded trying to do anything left handed.

When you fly an Airbus aircraft your joystick is on the outside of your seat, so when you are a First Officer flying from the right seat, you use the joystick with your right hand and the left on the throttle. But when you become a Captain and fly from the left seat, your controls are opposite so you adapt.

Hello, we are in a right-handed world, but when I see the English at home and their difficulties to carry out an overtaking on the road by car, with sometimes the needle of a speedometer swivelling in the other direction, well I do not see myself alternating this kind of principle. At a contractor (harvest-contractor) I was driving 2 J-Deere: a 9600 and a CTS, the cutter controls were reversed, while the switches were the same, I sometimes made mistakes that way. The same with 2 lateral bruschcutter scapers, the controls were reversed: it takes at least one day to adapt. The ideal is to work in the logic of the movement push to go faster, pull to slow down - lift to go up, fold to go down. We saw Allis-Chalmer towed combines at the beginning with the cut on the left, only on the tractor the controls were already on the right, so it was not convenient. The corn-pickers arrived in France all with the rows on the right. I drove an old 1920 Citröen B2 car of a friend, the brake pedal on the left, the clutch in the middle, the accelerator on the right, well it doesn't go so well when you have to downshift (no synchro speed), and what can I say about the Ford T, if you pull too hard on the left control: you go backwards!!! Daniel, frenchfarmer.

One Question from Germany: Why do you drive with nearly max rev ~2200, even when you're unloading the combine or you cruise over the field? Noticed that in other videos too
@mechadrake
@mechadrake 2 жыл бұрын
probably manual does not say anything about optimum revs I guess. At least that what it was on my claas stuff. which is aroud 1500-1600 good for cruising with load and 1850 goood econ for power, but for max power might use more than 2k (working field uphill sometimes in heavy soil). 1850-1900 that is what recomended by a service techs, which we found looked correct for power=economy. Cruising at low revs though causes lots of gear changes and some people here like going for max revs, which I am sure eats more fuel. Also it is very strange that trucks use much lower rpm than my tractor, freaked out the instructor using my ear instead of instruments :D I know low rpm is more efficient.
@PeeJee0
@PeeJee0 2 жыл бұрын
@@mechadrake thanks for your reply! That's what i thouht as well. We use 8RX and 8R tractors here as well and we noticed that the fuel efficiency of driving at above 1850rpm is much worse in Costs than a bit less power and slightly more time needed

Hi Laura, I have some questions today. How far is the Williams farm from Carlson Farms? How far is your home from each farm? Was there ever an arrest made for the arson of your neighbors equipment out in the field? I was looking back to see when I started following your channel and saw the arson story. I started watching Laura Farms in June of 2020. I live in a dairy community in western NY. I notice much more about farm operation now. One thing I did know was many dairymen let their chopper corn stand in the field until needed. I think they hope there are no 2 or 3 foot snowfalls.

Regarding left handed: yes. You need both hands to operate, one hand on the wheel and one on the controls. In my opinion (as a lefty) it's no different than "left handed" typing. You use both hands. I can push buttons with my right hand as easily as a right handed person can push buttons with their left hand. In fact I kinda prefer steering with my left hand and I'd think that would be annoying for right handers.

I have lived in both England and Japan (while in the military) and they are RHD countries. Operating the autos was no problem just so you remember which side of the road your suppose to be on. And BTW I am left handed.

from the first day of school, you start learning how to adapt to being left-handed in a right-handed world. the hardest for me was from 2nd to 8th grade i couldn't play baseball because the school didn't have left-handed mitt's....
