Hi Laura, I'm wondering how the community deals with dietary restrictions during communal meals (for example dairy or gluten intolerance). Also are there members who choose to be vegetarian or vegan, and if so, how does that typically work? Thanks for answering all of our questions! Hope you have a great Monday

Could you give a tour of all the community at fox hill? For example how you do your wash. You start with collecting the laundry and than you take it somewhere. Just take us with you. This way you can do all of the aspect of the community.

Do you have a small kitchenette in your apartment or is it just the one that you share with the other families

For decades I've been investigating the merits of intentional, self-sufficient communities as a fundamental social panacea. The 'community tech' that I've only been able to theorize about, the Bruderhof Communities have actually put into motion in various places around the nation and the world...and next year marks the 100th year anniversary of Bruderhof success. Every time someone scoffs at the idea of a small, cooperative, self-sufficient intentional human community working out due to the problems of 'human nature'...all you have to do is point to the Bruderhof Community and watch that corporate lie dissolve like a snowman in the Sahara. America was built on small communities and small businesses that eventually grew into large cities with large corporations. But the corporations and the government eventually became fused together into the 'MILITARY INDUSTRIAL ESTABLISHMENT' that President Eisenhower warned Americans against. The social infrastructure of small communities, which were the character building backbone of America, were slowly and quietly eased out of existence and replaced by corporations before anyone could sound the alarm. But the valuable wisdom of community has not been entirely lost. The Bruderhof communities still stand as a living, breathing bridge back to SOCIAL REALITY and E PLURIBUS UNUM. The ancient answers for mankind's most important social questions are still available and 'Laura from the Bruderhof' is sharing the peculiar insights of intentional community with the world. Except for the Bible itself, in this period of human history, I cannot imagine a more needed resource for answers. MATERIALISTIC CORPORATIONS or GOD FEARING COMMUNITIES? That is the question. Who would you rather have controlling you and your family's fate...having your back in troubling times...or sitting in judgement of your personal worth? That's where the rubber really meets the road. Thanks for all your videos Laura.

I found the statement "governments are inherently coercive" very interesting. To an outsider, it seems as though the Bruderhof has its own government - if very differently formed. You have ways of organising and decision making of a smaller group on behalf of the whole, people who make decisions on various aspects of life. I'm interested as to how you see this distinction? Is it because your local government is democratic, whereas the Bruderhof leadership is organised in some other way?

Yep, I completely agree. I love your videos Laura but I think we could do with a bit of unpacking on that one! I'd humbly suggest that it is the government and the rule of law which enables the safe flourishing of your communities. What would you be suggesting in its place?

How do you (or do you at all) welcome newcomers or recruit families? Is it just for those ‘born into’ the Bruderhof?

Q: How prevalent is radio, television, movies, internet, video games, computers, e-books, outside publications, magazines and newspapers within the Bruderhof communities? Q: What guidelines does the Bruderhof have in mitigating exposure to outside influences? Thanks in advance Laura.

Thanks for smashing out another one of your awesome videos Laura 😁. Question do you ever travel out of your community a lot and see different places like going to the zoo and seeing what life is like outside of community 🤔

I live in Chambersberg PA and work at a Christian school. The roots of this school is Amish/Mennonite. Does the Bruderhof stem from that form of Christianity?

We do adult baptism like the Amish/Mennonites and are inspired by the tradtion they come from (Radical Reformation).

I just thought of another question. I know that families live in small separate apartments with shared kitchens and bathrooms. What about singles who join the community? Do multiple same sex singles share an apartment in a family style? Thanks!

I have two good friends that speak Pennsylvania Dutch so you have the accent slightly not as thick.

Elizabeth Reed Pennsylvania Dutch is actually a German dialectic/pigeon. I didn’t know that until fairly recently due to researching my family history (My great-grandparents grew up Amish in Pennsylvania and Indiana and moved to Oregon and lived among mennonites). They all called the language Pinnsy (sp?) Deutsch- Deutsch for German. PS overly Excited to share that trivia 😂
