Laura you really hit the nail on the head. My mother died six years ago. I never cooked a thing in my life. But she was from Russia and I knew that I would never taste that food again unless I cooked it myself. I had no recipe. She never told me how to do it, but I knew how it was supposed to taste! And I worked backwards from there. Now I cook every day. I feel like this was the last gift my mother gave me. Food is healing!

I love this dish. My mom would make so many dishes like this especially during the holidays. I loved her Easter pies. The bruzzutta & cheese was one of my favorites. I also loved the wheat pies.
