My brother and I had a bunch of the Ring Raiders. They were aircraft bigger than micro machines but smaller than a hot wheels scale. They attached to your hand with a ring. I never understood the concept as a kid and I still don’t today. I may have some kicking around in the attic but I’m sure most of them didn’t survive.

In a lot of videos on KZbin, in particular vintage music tracks, you see dozens and dozens of comments complaining about how everything sucks now and how everything was so much better back in the day. This video perfectly illustrates how nostalgia can make us forget just how bad things could be back then. Biohazardous Breath Blasters, for God's sake!
@Dinobolt1
@Dinobolt1 4 жыл бұрын
While I do agree that things were better back in the 80s and the 90s, I never would have said that they were perfect. And anyone who says everything sucks now just haven't looked around enough; there are a few things as good as if not better than nostalgic ones.

I used to rob the living fucking daylights out of them. In retrospect, I think the workers would just let me. Because no way in hell did staff not see a bunch of doofy preteens standing on the shelf as the sounds of packages ripping and falling to the floor went on for many, many minutes like almost every day. They probably under paid the workers so much, the workers just didnt care. My greatest "borrowing" was a die cast model of the TNG Enterprise. Many years later that was worth hundreds of dollars.

In memory of my Grandma I have a story: My mom's family were pretty poor so my grandma made most of their toys growing up. One day she made a pillow some arms and legs then either draw or sewed a face on the pillow (this was in the 50's). All the kids loved these and when they had kid they made their own for their kids. My sister still has one. I remember when I found about the Pillow People a few years ago thinking 'Wait really?' because to me it seem like such a basic idea.

There was this Harry Potter toy that received mix reviews: the nimbus 2000 toy. It was a broomstick to ride with . . . uhmn . . . a build-in . . . vibration device. Oddly enough, it was not well liked by the boys, but the girls were much more enthusiastic. and there were even reports of battery shortages . . . Worst part: no one in the entire chain of command - from the rookie sweeping floors to the chieftain in head of the top brass - who stopped for a second to ponder upon this matter.

I certainly only wanted to sleep on my pillow as a kid, but 20 years later, and a express parcel from Japan, and i now sleep 'with' my pillow. A pillow which is 5 foot long and with a much different pillowcase as the type i had as a kid (mind nothing lewd). I haven't had 2 failed marriages, but if some of the people that i know knew i owned shit like this (I'm thinking mostly of my female friend and my dad) i'd feel the shame of 2 failed marriages. At least i don't fit the stereotype of the type of guy who owns something like this, that would be true shame. Mind it's a strage feeling when your sleeping (like actually sleeping, after what you brought her back to do is over) with a woman you've brought back to your house, and in your head your thinking 'fuck, i wish i could kick her sweaty ass out and sleep with the body pillow i'm hiding under the bed' I bet most the guys who own body pilows are thinking 'damn i wish i could replace this with a real woman' while i'm here at the totally opposite end of that spectrum. I'm either totally normal and don't like overheating sleeping with somone sweaty AF after 'strenuous physical activity' or i have some kind of problem. Mind i'm a sucker for being extremley comfortable when i sleep, i can't get to sleep if i'm not posistioned or propped up just right, or a bit too hot or cold. So maybe i am normal in that regard, but i bet the idea of kicking a woman out of your bed makes virgins crap themselves. I haven't actually ever done it before, i am polite after all.

I remember being 11 or 12 years old at the time.I was in the local K Mart.This woman was waiting in line to check out.She looked rather..how can I put this....the type that was not interested in dating men.I noticed that the only thing she had in her cart was the E T "finger light". She had a look on her face that seemed to say,"geez..I hope no one I know sees me with this". I don't think she bought it to help her find her way in the dark.

Ha ha ha!!! Laura said dingaling! Oh man! We had a weird idea of toys in those days! Fortunately, they weren't all bad, and some parents fought in toy stores during Christmas to get some for their kids (Cabbage Patch Kids)! I don't think I ever got a weird toy per say in those days, mostly Hot Wheels, Transformers and GI Joe, but man, just thinking of all the stuff that existed in those days, no to mention the cartoons with the same toy line. Thanks for sharing, sweet Laura! XXXOOO

The problem isn't how the E.T. finger looks, the problem is how people's minds work now versus back then.Sure, back then there were occasional dirty jokes, etc.But there was also a great deal of innocence too.That's what's missing today. In short, nowadays it's always dirty jokes, all the time.There is no innocence.

@@waltp3373 Sure they did. No one is suggesting otherwise. But like I said, there was also a great deal of innocence too.That's what's missing today.But now? People's minds automatically jump to what's dirty. It's always about sex now. Always.And that's sad.

I had Pillow Fighter! My sister had the princess looking on seen next to him in the commercial. His boxing gloves and shorts were a sort of silk material. I loved him. The problem (as memory serves) was, they weren't very easy to wash. So when you fall asleep on your pillow friend multiple times and drool on them -- leaving unsightly discolored blotches -- Mom and Dad can't just toss them in the washer without risking damage or wear to the pillow-toy-thing. My parents never throw anything away, I wonder if pillow fighter still hanging out at home somewhere.
