Laurel & Hardy Honolulu baby from the film Sons of the Desert, 1933.

Marvin Hatley wrote the song "Honolulu Baby" as well as "We are The Sons of the Desert". He also wrote the famous "Ku Ku" Laurel and Hardy theme song. Ty Parvis sings "Honolulu Baby" as he dances with Charita Alden. Later on after getting out of the taxi and coming home, Oliver Hardy sings the chorus of "Honolulu Baby" on a soprano ukelele.

I thought L&H were hilarious aged 6... And still find them hilarious aged 50. Timeless and priceless, there'll never be a better duo. I nearly wet myself each time Stan cries, brilliant

funny thing about that. during one take there actually was vodka in Charley Chase's glass. Stan thought it was water

Ty Parvis ,singing Honoluly baby is obviously a merciless rib of Dick Powell in the Busby Berkeley movies of this period. So camp, does he remind anyone of Neil Sedaka?

Aside from everything else about this, I just love how penultimately 30s this whole sequence is. Everyone always goes on and on about how great the 1940s were. MEH! Suck it, 40s, you were never as cute as the 30s.

That silly Honolulu baby Hollywood version is a travesty of real Havaiian dancing. No native Honolulu pretty moves her hands so stiffly but Hollywood starlets with their stumpy legs, desperate glittery smiles and rather loud vulgar costumes do.The best interpretation of the song was of course done by Stan and Ollie.

I don't much about real Hawaiian dancing but I see how this probably isn't a accurate representation. The girls are moving rather stiffly.

@@ricardocantoral7672 Back then rather than hire authentic Filipinos for the dancing scenes, they used white actresses that weren't familiar with the hula dance nor were they fluid with the motions.
