Dies are my favorite kind of tool because they make it so easy to make more tools. Whenever I like a design, I want it in all possible formats so I use dies to make fun foam stamps, stencils, and embossing folders using thin magnetic vent covers. I’ve even figured out how to get a mould from stacked die cuts. I like to cut plastic stencils but lately I have had lots of fun with paper stencils & masks and my gel plates. Every die cut is a twofer because it creates a design on the plate for printing and the die cut is colored by whatever medium is used on the gel plate. Love it when paper crafters branch out. Fun ideas.

Loved the cards of course but the wine bit/acting was hysterical!!! I love your spirit and of course your beautiful home. With that kitchen you need to learn to cook a few more things! Thanks for the laughter!

I find doing the additional layers of cardstock to help save my plates as well and love when it sticks together as the design but never thought to cover with some matte medium over top of it to seal it with keep it as it is without falling off eventually from not being glued underneath! TFS!

Well, yes, you are so smart! Clean and simple! I need to get over having to create elaborate cards! I don’t have any background dies like that but I do have a ScanNCut! Use it, Donna! And use Laurel’s techniques! Thanks for taking the time to give us so many fun techniques!

I so like your style of using what you have and get creative. I liked them all but the white you ink blended around with a blue promoted the idea of just cutting out a little white Christmas tree with maybe a little jewel on top! Boom! Lol you got a cool card! Thanks for all your ideas that people like me “ dig really deep for hours it seems” to come up with!

I don't have any background dies. Would it be possible to get the same result with several smaller dies?
@barbaramcmillan92432 жыл бұрын
Btw I love your work and your personality ♡♡♡
@rtd17912 жыл бұрын
Yes. The answer to your question is yes. It just takes more passes through your die cutting machine. Unless you use a bunch of different dies. Have you have ever stamped a background with a small stamp? It’s the same idea but with a die. Jennifer McGuire had a video on this idea in the last few months.
@barbaramcmillan92432 жыл бұрын
@@rtd1791 thanks for your answer. I will have to give it a go.
@LaurelBeard2 жыл бұрын
Yes you sure could. Just be sure to secure the dies down with tape (washi or painters tape that you pressed on your clothes some to remove some of the stickiness) since you need to run it thru your machine a few times. This way, the dies won't shift around and ruin your piece!

Very smart card creator. You made cards from what I call mistakes, running 2 layers of cardstock at once. I've got to learn that almost every mistake can be a new opportunity for creativity. Thanks.

Little tip to corral these unruly threads - use a tiny little bit of double sided tape on the back of your sentiment or focal image, play with placement of the thread, attaching it to the tape, and when you are happy with the result, secure in place with another piece of double sided tape or some glue. Works every time 🙂

Hmmm, not that I know of. My intro (my face) is always filmed with just my Iphone so that doesn't match the rest of the video perfectly! But interesting it was different for you DURING the video.... (oh, except for the wine with me and my husband, that 2 was filmed with just my phone)
