I can understand why people hate on Crossfit, but I still enjoy doing it. I do my compound muscle building movements first, then Crossfit for cardio. I always scale down heavier WOD's so I can perfect form. Plus being 6'6" really makes it a pain to do any type of pull-up, so pass unless they're strict.XD For people hating, I recommend they try it, but instead of going for time or lifting as much weight as possible, just focus on completing the workout with minimal rest time, its practically circuit training, just with a different name.
@WagyuMamaRanch6 жыл бұрын
Badger sounds like regular CrossFit you do bro lol. I think everyone needs to find a decent box to go to and see what CrossFit, performed correctly, is like...which sounds pretty close to what you do. Everyone wanna be a “Games” athlete and forget how to just train “CrossFit” standards. 🤷♂️

That was a great question by the girl asking what the exercise is working. If all crossfitties did that, and they heard bullshit answers like "uh, everything, it's crossfit", more people would realized how unfocused and silly this whole thing is. It's also fitting that she asked that while he was doing those ridiculous sumo high pulls. One of the most worthless exercises that crossfitties preach.

I've been doing crossfit for 6 years (before there was even a box in my city). I was recently injured for the first time. It was my fault for not listening to the coach who insisted that I drop the weight of the kettle bell in the WOD. I will say that at 45 I am in better overall shape than I was when I was 18 (although today I can't run a 50 second quarter like I could back then). All I can say is, science or no science, it works.

It actually happened to me. I was doing the Grace WOD and my form went a little bit during the workout. The main trainer was on vacation and the fill in wasn't watching my form very well. I was only thinking about crushing my previous time, which I did, but I later found out that I damaged a ligament in my back, which made my back muscles tighten up like a cramp. I went through physical therapy and in the end it was just time that I needed to fix it....2.5 years of time it took.

haters are gonna hate. Crossfit helps out with mobility, core strength, and many more. It is proven to be one of the most effective workouts out there. So try training for it for while and then see the results and how you feel. It's way better than using a machine or doing a lame bicep curl.
@zoiesmith14949 жыл бұрын
I see what your saying but cross fit is really dangerous and unhealthy if you don't know what to do / proper form . I understand if you have had extensive training in weightlifting before but if you just try to jump into it there is a good chance for injury . For instance I saw her doing the over head press wrong but what ever . ( I know because I weight lift / do HIIT workouts , so I'm not completely clueless )
@kodeehowell289 жыл бұрын
+Zoie Smith in all fairness that guy is not a very good coach. Been doing crossfit for a while now and none of my coaches would have let their clients form break down that much.

I have thought about it but , my trainers for sports say you need to know the correct technique before you try doing anything for speed , I myself think its wrong if you go do crossfit without any previous back round in weight lifting correctly . However , all workouts work your core since it is a stability muscle :)

It is amazing that some people think this is good for you. The lingo is cliche and they ignore her when she says it's too heavy and don't correct her when she is losing her form and that is not how to land properly for box jumps. It is an amazing business that has unfortunately taken off...but hey, at least it gives work to physios, osteos, massage therapists, insurance companies, etc etc.

The workout they just did was a benchmark workout and there really weren't any technical movements involved. Actually, a lot of their workouts fall into their "metabolic" classification where it's just rounds of running, calisthenics and movements with moderately/light resistance. I agree, though, that continuing to perform heavy snatches even when form breaks down is seriously begging for injury. That is where having good trainers/coaches and knowing your own limits is super important.

I think you're one of the lucky ones. I've been to classes where the room was packed with about 35 people and only two instructors were available. I think that it can be a great workout for some - like folks who are already pretty fit (and the fact that you could 315 in the deadlift, tells me you were pretty fit) But I worry about the weekend warrior with very little fitness or lifting background.

Yea I'm one of the few that are fit actually. all the idiots that do the classes, be it butts and guts, of spin class or the Crossfit Type crap aren't. The instructor even has a gut! I don't see any of them lifting weights, NOT ONE. I did see one of these clowns try and do some kind of pull up thing where he tried to put his legs through his arm and almost feel off the bar. Best part was his gf was watching me and not him because I actually have muscle. the fittest men and women at my gym are the ones that lift!
@clap511 жыл бұрын
I body build, I do crossfit, I swim, and run compeititvely...I do MMA and yoga. I play sports, climb, camp, hike, bike, and stay active. I see plenty of body builders crossing over to crossfit or kettlebell. I can tell you that it's not easy.
@patb526611 жыл бұрын
Learning any new physical skill isn't always easy even if that person is fit. A crossfitter would feel the same thing learning a new skill. I don't know any bodybuilders that do crossfit. There's no point, why would a bodybuilder do "kipping pullups"? No point as not only ineffectual to building back muscle as there's no control, but from I've seen a sure fire way to cause shoulders problems. Same with kipping dips, the goal isn't to make it easier so one can count more reps. I guess if that's one's goal, then have at it, my muscle is every bit as "functional" as any of the cf people I've seen and in many cases more as I can actually do pullups from a dead hang and not struggle to barely mange one.

you do realize that crossfit is relatively new and that there are alot of power lifting movements in crossfit so i believe what you mean to say is that the athletes include power lifts right? such as power clean, hang clean etc...power lifting and the movements have been around for much longer than crossfit so dont think every time you see a power clean or split jerk or any of those movement that its crossfit.
@St4y0rLeav311 жыл бұрын
That's why new crossfitters go through one-on-one training with coaches first before they join regular classes. Each workout is modified for individual needs. They don't just throw you in there and expect everyone to do the same workouts. If you're a beginner at running you wouldn't try to run a marathon, same concept applies here.
@TheDuskmourn12 жыл бұрын
I was gonna say. Crossfit is inviting to everyone and it's scaleable as you saw even if you're way out of shape young or old, they encourage you to do things like yoga and lol they do cardio and strength training in their own way. Lol you're either trolling or a hater.

I have crossfited for almost two years and I disagree. This argument has been presented many times to me, so here is my response; 1.) The price is worth it. I pay $100 a month, but used to pay $51 an hour for my personal trainer. 2.) I am not arguing that injury or improper training may have occured in specific cases, but in the 2 years our gym has been open we have not had a single incident. 3.) Form is stressed big time at my gym. They WILL stop you if your doing it wrong.
