I was about to die from an overdose in my apartment in Miami all alone after so many different drugs…I went to grab my phone and I couldn’t even see what I pressed and out of no where KZbin started and this song played. My heart was beating out of my chest and then the room turned white and I felt at peace. My heart slowed down and I survived. Jesus Christ is real people. He saved my life.

Lauren, my youngest daughter who is a cancer nurse and a believer, sent me this song with your video after my husband, of 46 years, was diagnosed with terminal liver cancer. My husband and I both loved it, especially being from NOLA, but I had no idea how it would play into our life story. We had no idea he would be gone in less than 3 months. A day or two before he passed, my three daughters decided to turn on the radio so we could sing, talk, laugh, and just be with him. The oldest daughter is a 25-year hospice nurse. She probably has done this with other patients, knowing it's calming for them. She is not a believer like we are, so it was all secular music, but I'm not knocking her for that because it turned out to be a lovely memory for me now that i will always cherish, and it helped us through that long day. I do think he loved hearing the music and having all his girls right there with him singing and talking. How much better does it get for a dad of three wonderful girls to have one be a hospice nurse and the other a cancer nurse? We decided the middle daughter should have an honorary badge because all three of them were there day and night for those last two weeks. They devoted themselves to taking care of their dad at the end. My husband and I were truly blessed and proud of each of them. I don't know how I would have done it without them. Later that evening, when it was just him and I, I played that video, "Thank God I do." We both had loved it the first time we watched it. I had never heard of you at that time, but i knew this song would probably become my anthem by the end of my first year without him. So anyway, I played him that video. He was not doing much talking at this point, but still, he understood what was going on around him. He opened his eyes a couple of times and looked at the video for a few seconds. After it was over, I was trying to find something else for him to listen to. I wanted to feed my dying husband something spiritual to give him hope. In his weakened voice, he asked me to play it again, so I did. This time, a tear rolled down his cheek. I fought to control my own emotions. I often wonder what went through his mind as he heard your words. I'm sure the song comforted him on many levels. I like to think that he was comforted knowing that God would somehow get me through losing him. I know he didn't want to leave any of us. He was a very active man and had just been out on his tractor, working in the yard. Then he was gone. That is how quickly it all seemed to happen. There was not enough time to deal with all the emotions or prepare ourselves for the inevitable. You see, he was the strong one. I wanted to go first, not him. He was my home. I met him when I was 15 and married him when I was 17. He was my rock. My one and only true love. He was my home, my safe place! Now, as the one year anniversary of his death draws near, I can say that this song really does resonate with my own life. I truly don't know where I would be without God. I know I could have never made it by myself. I would have fallen off the edge the day my life fell into a million pieces when he left us. I too, hope I will eventually be able to breathe again and have the clouds lift. It's getting better and I know I will be ok. God is the lifter of my head. God is teaching me that He is my Rock. He is my home, my safe place. What gets me out of the bed each day is my faith in the promise of eternal life. I'm not knocking anyone else's religion or faith, but for me, it's the God who made the heavens and earth that I put my trust. His name is YHWH. The Great I Am, and His son Yashua, my perfect sacrafical lamb who paid my ransom. He defeated death and the grave. No other God has died for his people and defeated death. I put my trust in Him. It was not goodbye, it was, "Till we meet again, my love." ❤

Didn't know this lovely lady existed till American Idol auditions this year, mainly because I don't listen to new music (my loss in this case), and couldn't help think good of her for what she did to Megan Danielle. As I explore her music, I'm touched by her simplicity and sincerity and may God bless her always and keep her this way.
