But he can just do a bunch of random magical stuff, like create shit (he created a hourglass out of thin air for buu and created the outfit for gohan etc.) Non of that ever had a specific name though. He just "did" it. And no one ever seemed surprised.

Oh man, this is what I needed right now. Speaking of rising tension and such, might I suggest something for the remaining episodes after the movies and specials? You should totally watch episodes 57, 58, and 59 in one go. Think of it as a warm-up for episode 60, the three-parter plus epilogue. Which, at a minimum, I recommend doing parts 1-3 all at once; trust me, once you start, you don't want to stop if you can help it. I love how much you loved Gohan wanting a giy like Piccolo's! Of course he understands Goku! He is (or at least was) 10.78% Goku. Dunno if its ever established how much thay changes as Cell becomes perfect, if at all. ...I don't know how, but I never noticed the stars before in all the times I've watched this episode. Im now going to be giggling about that the rest of the day. X3 NO! They had to mute one of the best disclaimer reads in the series!? Awww...damn. Episode 56's disclaimer read was done by Gohan, but awkwardly while you hear the headboard banging against the wall in the background. X3 The thing about Dende crushing on Gohan started from the second episode of DBZ Kai Abridged, which technically came out before this. But watching all of Kai Abridged at once also works just fine. :P To be fair, I don't think anyone expects that. TFS goes into amazing detail about why they made that scene in their creator commentary series, but the short version is: this version of events, which goes back to OG DragonBall, made more narrative sense to them. Personally, having heard their explanation, I wholeheartedly agree. On top of everything else, it actually makes you stop and sympathize with Dr. Gero, even if just for a moment. You can understand why his hatred for Goku runs so deep. Yeah...16 does that. Fun fact: Guru and all three forms of Cell were voiced by the same guy. So Cell answering that question about him coming back with "I wish!" is more of a subtle joke than people realize. :P Ah, yes...love that moment. Apparently the subtitles describe it as "Popo literally cracks a smile." X3 Glad you enjoyed these episodes! Looking forward to the movies next week!

If memory serves, Master Roshi told Goku to climb up Korin's tower and get some magic water to make him stronger, and he befriended the father and son who guarded the bottom of the statue. Goku had the 4star dragonball. The Red Ribbon army wanted to use the dragonballs to rule the world, so they'd been harassing Goku for a while and causing havoc everywhere. A red ribbon assassin showed up at the tower while goku was trying to climb it. He killed the dad, and Goku wanted to gather the dragonballs to wish him back. The Red Ribbon Army then kidnapped bulma to get the dragonball radar, so Goku was... not exactly being gentle when he wiped out the red ribbon army.

Fun Facts: Goku is 16 years older than Piccolo, and Piccolo is only 4 years older than Gohan. In the OG Dragonball, Goku at 16 years old fought and killed Demon King Piccolo. King Piccolo as his moment spit out an egg which would soon later hatch and grow his son, Piccolo Jr (he is never again referred to as Jr). 3 Years later Goku fights and beats Piccolo at the 22nd World Martial Arts Tournament. At the end of the tournament is when Goku agrees to marry Chi-Ch. Roughly a year later Gohan is born.

Heyy we did the pizza and pasta dinners as well for cross country, way to take me back 15+years So some fun facts that you might be interested in; Chi Chi talking about bleached hair is a reference to the Japanese perception of having bleached hair being associated with delinquency. That might not be the case as much anymore, but it certainly used to be. Mr. Satan is basically based off of American pro wrestlers, and his name is due to the fun old Asiatic slur of America being 'The Great Devil' I think you would really like reacting to Dragon Ball Super after you finish Abridged. Sure, DBZA isn't canon, but it really does give you the gist of things, and Super is a really fun show with great slice of life episodes and really solid humor. Food for thought!

Just to be clear, when Dende resurrected Shenron he did make it able to grant three wishes. The two wishes thing is a common misunderstanding of how Dende describes the 'multi-res'. The Earth's Dragon Balls are like an off-shoot of the Namekian Dragon Balls. Not literally, but for whatever reason they have a lower absolute cap on their power than the Namekian Dragon Balls do. It might just be because of the size of said balls, but again, not sure. Anyway, because of this difference in power, in order to make Shenron able to grant three wishes, the 'multi-res' wish had to be made worth two wishes. What Dende says in the actual series is that if you want to revive multiple people at once, you would have two wishes. It's an awkward way of saying it.

Even creators can't think of everything. A friend once told me that somebody once approached TFS, and asked if the muffin button came to be because Dr. Briefs reverse-engineered Goku's original space pod. Since those pods are intergalactic space vehicles, they would obviously need some means of feeding their passengers. And being so cramped, it would make sense that they can materialize food to achieve that. Hence the muffin button, which Dr. Briefs didn't even realize he'd inadvertently installed by building the ship based on the original. And according to the story as I was told it, TFS said that they wished they had thought of that, but in reality it was just a completely random gag with no profound meaning whatsoever.

Anything and everything Mr Satan says is literally almost word for word verbatim, if not barely changed at all. Even how he sounds is similar. In the actual show he pretty much acts exactly like and sounds exactly like what this version makes him sound like.

its often been said that Raditz should have been used so much more then just a one off throw away villain even more so as over the years Akira Toriyama changed/revealed more details about Saiyans that moved Super Saiyan into more of a uncommon genetic mutation then something every single saiyan could do if they were strong enough, the whole S - Cells thing combined with the reveal in a flashback in the Dragonball Super manga that Goku's insane power potential might not be natural due to Bardock unknowingly wished for his "Sons to prosper" granted it was never show if this was accepted which it might not have been due to alien dragon sensing he merely speaking from the heart and did not understand it had the power to grant any wish he desired etc. There as been a few "What Ifs" in some of the games that explored what might have happened if Raditz joined forces with his younger brother.

I think they were a bit misguided. a small inconsistency about them not knowing where new namek was vs missing callbacks to the film. none of the movies are canon even in DBZA. TFS fits them in as best they could but they all suffer from plot holes that cannot be resolved. it's best to not think about them and just watch in the order TFS intended.

So at the beginning of that episode where it was silent, it had bed creaking noises… implying Goku & ChiChi were getting busy, and Gohan was in shock and talking during the intro. Heads up! While the Broly movie takes place in the lead up to the Cell Games, it contains a very big hint to a very big reveal from the finale. Personally, I'd recommend watching it afterwards. In the meantime, you can buy time by watching the Cell Games shorts. They're a bunch of crossover fights against Cell before the finale, and I believe Cell references them later

I feel like that's what makes the order of watching things so confusing, and is probably why she sometimes receives mixed suggestions. Because on one hand, you have the intended/canonical order of events. But on the other hand, you have jokes and references that are sometimes to future events, because DBZA's writing expects the viewer to have already seen the original show. Because of that, it's sometimes hard to know for sure when specials and movies should be watched, since those recommendations can vary depending on the viewer's prior knowledge.

Just in case there was any confusion (which I doubt, but just in case), King Furry's name wasn't some lazy furry joke for being an anthropomorphic dog. That is his actual name. I just feel like without prior knowledge of Dragon Ball, that's something that some people could wind up assuming nowadays.
