Hi Lauren. I am a 63 year-old man who has struggled off and on for over 30 years with guitar but made very little progress beyond "noodling" blues and harmonic minor scales. Over the last couple of years (because of partial retirement) I have decided to "get serious" but have found most lessons on the internet extremely frustrating because they simply go too fast and do not give me a clear sense of how the song being played is supposed to sound. I deeply appreciate your "chords first" method, followed by the comparatively slow pace at which you go through the details, as well as the way you SIMPLIFY the the tunes. Please stay online and keep teaching; you are the best of the best!

Hey David. I hear your frustration with the guitar. I just picked my 4 instruments up in Jan of 2022 after taking a 30 year break. Back then I had no You Tube, internet. Since then I have looked around for a teacher that is slow like Lauren above. I am relearning things that I did not finish, like the song above Sweet Home. I sure wish they were all like her. I have quickly found that the better the guitar player the worse the teacher in SOME cases. They teach at their level and their speed not at a beginners speed. I am trying to relearn and have had some success with Classical Gas. I could only find one person that taught it right but again he goes too fast. I cannot recall how many times I have had to use the rewind on the remote. Keep practicing and be happy with what you have accomplished. We are only in competition with ourselves.

This is probably one of my all time favorite songs. I love the way you break it down. After about a 45 year layoff from playing when I was a teenager I decided to pick up a guitar and give it a go. I ran across your Platinum member grouping of lessons and they are awesome. The next few months I'm really going to concentrate on getting this song down good. Keep up the videos! You do an awesome job.

Thank you so much for your method of teaching guitar. I am 73 disabled, I have always wanted to learn the guitar, never to late. I decided to never listen to Doctor's that say you will never be able to function with those limbs of mine, just had to prove them wrong! Not only being able to move my fingers,arms ,legs and feet I now can play the guitar, walk etc. I give all the credit to the Lord and as well your teaching (motivation). Stretching my fingers for the Seat Home Alabama is my next mountain to climb, may take some time but playing approx. 2-3 hrs/ day it shouldn't take too long. Thanks again

I am little confused, when you play the lick at 8:58 after the 7 8 9 hammer on you frett both the 77 on both strings and again on the second set of 77, yet you only pick the third string and the 4th string never moves. Same thing occurs on the 5 to 7 hammer on and the following 55 55, and there you only play 1 string both times even though you are fretting both of the 55 55. This doesn't line up with the Tab diagram and when I play it sounds different. Also, on the 0 1 2 hammer on right after the Tab diagram shows 2, open 0 0 on the 4th string and 3rd fret on the E string, but when you are playing you are only picking one of the open 0 on the 4th string. Is that how it should be played, or is the Tab diagram correct or am I reading it wrong?
@LaurenBateman Жыл бұрын
The TAB is correct.
