Thank you Ms Lauren. Great Lesson for a Great song. I doubted myself when I started trying the finger picking part. And, I doubted myself in the strumming parts. But, I practiced my doubt right out. Can you help me with that little thing at the end of measure 6 (I think) of the studio version. I have been trying to figure it out on my own and I am all over it. I just can't quite get it right.

if you're talking about what I think you are just take your ring finger when its on the 8th fret (10th without capo) and slide it on the B string and pick at 8, 10, 8, 7, 8 (10,12,10,9,10 without capo) hope this helps!

Question: is it general practice to 'renumber' the frets once you use a capo? you're playing on the 7th fret from capo, but physically the 9th fret on the neck. I expect this is the best way to refer to it in case someone decides to play in a different key and move the capo. and omg, hilarious: 15:35, '...and I have a pick in my hand...' How often does that happen? I have picks in my hands, pockets, I find them on cupholders, bottom of the washing machine. But hey, this is a great video - I was jamming along. Surprisingly simple song to pick up, and what a great song it is. I'm sure Tracy Chapman didn't realize it at the time, but this song is timeless. I dug it in 1988 as a 20 year old. My kid played it in marching band just a few years ago. Thanks Lauren for your stash of lessons to make guitar playing fun.

Just learning for fun my fingers are developing hard callous’s on my fingers. I bought the guitar for my grand daughter, as I watch tv, I thought maybe I will pick up from where I left off when I was 11 years old now 62. Lol! My Brain made a Breakthrough on the Maggie May Intro! And the other Chords are easy now that I memorized them. I have a piano I play primarily by Ear but can play Scales. I appreciate your lessons although I learned the Maggie May intro from the British guy the Chord part of the song I learned from you. Maybe you can play the intro for Maggie May? Now onto “Fast Car.”Oh! Yes and Thank You!
