It doesnt matter. Season 7 throw this scene to trash. In season 7 we find out regina casts the curse without needing the crush a heart to save henry because she already crushed her fathers. So in this scene regina could have done it.

Emma is always gonna be their first. yes they gave her up to give her the best chance but if you think about it, if August's dad hadnt put Blue in that tough spot and made her lie, Emma would have at least had one of her parents

In the first part of season 3, Regina destroyed the parchment containing the dark curse, in order to undo the Peter Pan's curse, and a price was paid: she had to give up the thing she loved most, and a wall was put splitting the realms - so, at this time, there wasn't any way to cross over (even a magic bean wouldn't work out). In order to put the walls down, it'd be necessary to pay the same price - that's why the dark curse was the only way.

Besides, she is sacrificing him for her unborn child and in a sense Emma so who does she love more? The love is intertwined. I love this show, but honestly, love is a pretty big thing. I mean she can just kill her or put her in any terrible family, which will hurt Jefferson the same, but she doesn't. That's some soft of kindness to me. And as I remember, she didn't killed any kids in the show, not even Snow. When the evil queen decided to kill Zelena, she not harm her baby too. That's kind enough to me :">

I understand your point. When Regina enacted this curse, she didn’t have to crush her father’s heart. She just threw it in. Whereas here, Snow had to crush David’s heart. Peter Pan also had to crush Felix’s heart. Here is how I explain this: 1.) It doesn’t really matter how it is done. 2.) Either Peter Pan or Rumple or some person altered the curse to the point where the heart had to be crushed in order for the curse to be enacted, not just thrown in. I don’t know why they would do this, but this how I explain it.
