I still can’t believe this was the 1950’s, it’s so futuristic for that time! I love learning new things about the era! 😁

I dyed my hair green a few weeks ago and now it's a nice pastel shade - good to know that it's a trend during this beautiful space-age era!! 💚

I have to say these pastels shades are a lot less jarring to the eye at least, softer and definitely a step up from the harsh "Halloween" colors that have been around way too long. I remember some of those Roux shades from the 60s(?) Love seeing those jewel shades on the darker-haired ladies also.

When I first went pink, I worked at a grocery store, then at a bank... And so many older women would compliment my hair, tell me they wish they were brave enough to try something like that (in the most genuine way). I always encouraged them to try it!

😢 My grandma used that Roux haircolor between colorings. Took me back. Miss her and her Bozo red hair, lol.

Hi I use to use Roux Fanciful colours they were brilliant to use and gave good coverage. I started setting my mothers hair when I was Nine years old and she use to use Auburn Hint Of a Tint by Inecto!! I am now 68 and really love your Channel. I get called upon occasionally to do" Vintage" hair styles but thats what I was trained in but you never stop learning in this industry. Thanks 😘

Amazing and interesting video, would love to know a little bit of platinum, ashy and white tones through the early years of hair dyes.

I love your youtube video's, but I do have a question I am older and trying to go for a 1950's hair style and had straight hair and not sure what kind of cut to get. What would you suggest? I like your hair cut, but do you have straight hair (when you don't roll it or do pin curls? Thank you for any help

I’m completely fascinated, thank you for sharing your research. How did they not destroy their hair back then with the bleach? I remember getting my first bleach job in the early 90’s as a teen, in an expensive salon and boy did they ruin my level 5 hair… it was a horrid light orange/yellow brassy, and they didn’t use a toner to my knowledge. I had saved up my money for so long lol. A couple of months later I went back to brown, my tail between my legs 😂

Good question! They actually kinda did ruin their hair if they bleached it too far past their natural hair level. This look was a lot easier for women who were already natural blonde.

@@LaurenRennellsahhhh now that makes sense! I always wondered how Marilyn didn’t ruin her hair, being a natural brunette. Although I think her hair had a golden undertone? She didn’t have all that red to get rid of.

I think the colored hair looks so much prettier because they still style and present themselves in a very neat way. Nowadays, most people will pair their colored hair with face piercings and tattoos. I mean, if you think that is pretty then fine but personally I think that is a bit off-putting.

Its so funny how super conservative people always flip out when they see a person with an unnatural hair color. It's like: dude, this has been going on for eons! Your Grandma probably wore their hair that way. Lighten up. Its gonna be okay🤭

Not always. I'm 70, conservative, and my grandma did a dark auburn for years which looked great with her dark eyes. My own mom was blue eyed and bleached her hair platinum for years. I "frosted" my hair for years but happily quit coloring when I hit my 50s since I actually like my gray hair. But no thanks to the ugly harsh greens and oranges, sorry, would never call those flattering to anyone I've ever seen wearing them. To each her own, though.
