PCT 2021 SOBO- Episode 4- Glacier Peak Wilderness

Those thimble berries sprout eings this time of year. If you see the red berries taste them. Sort of like a raspberry. But they totally spring up overnight and over grow the trail. Not enough people have tramped them down. But once the berries are over they die back. We had millions of them in the forest behind our house in WA when I was growing up. All the trails would have to be tramped down every spring by us kids. Congrats on your first 100 miles. Northern cascades makes you work for it but you are there at a perfect time to see the crazy beautiful peaks snd glacial lakes and lush forests. Lots of water. That’s for sure. Watch out for nice and shrewd that will like chewing on your clothes snd packs snd tents . Since you are SoBo your sweat might not attract them like it does NoBo hikers. I’m loving your views. Honestly, Glacier Peak Wilderness was kind of the biggest hassle of my entire NOBO hike. Skeeters, humidity, smoke, brush, steep ... kind of like the AT!
