So, my dad died 2 months before I had my daughter... This song always gets me. Granted. He hasn't always been in my life. But I've always wished he was. It's a little weird, but this song made me think about my great aunt and her father. My great-grandfather never came back from the second world war (was in german army, but not because he wanted to, he probably didn't have much choice, he was captured by soviets and died somewhere in Russia) leaving my great grandmother with six children to raise. My grandfather was the youngest. People who knew my great-aunt told me a lot what our family has been through after the war (in Poland). My great-aunt was an amazing person, strong and wise and also very sensitive, I admire her so much. And now I'm thinking about how tough it must have been for her to grow up without a father. Did she miss him a lot? And my grandfather died when my dad was 25, so not a child anymore, but still it must have been difficult. My dad isn't perfect, he made a lot of mistakes but I'm thankful for him being there ❤ I hope he lives long enough to see my dreams come true, because we talk about them almost every day
