lmao. Thanks to the mantle plume that is known as the Hawaiian hotspot, there's land where there should be ocean in the first place. The pacific plate is moving at a northeast direction, so the oldest volcanoes are in the Emperor seamount, and is part of the Hawaiian-Emperor volcanoes.

Excuse my ignorance, but isn't the big island of Hawaii just the top of a massive volcano, that's base is miles deep in the Pacific? Pretty sure if the big island wasn't surrounded by ocean, you'd have a volcano that's ten's of thousands feet tall
@LardGreystoke6 жыл бұрын
Mauna Loa is 13000 ft even with ocean. The ocean keeps you from seeing its underwear.

Hawaii is quite lucky to have the volcano blow in this way. Yes, it's horrible people lost their home but, it isn't taking any lives. Hopefully, it doesn't do that. It's simply building more land and not destroying the inland. The Guatemala volcano actually took lives and destroyed families. Prayers for all though who lost their homes in both situations.

I wander if the main volcano is blocked,it is building a new vent through fissure 8.....it could be the birth of a new volcano....
@morgangrey40206 жыл бұрын
no..regardless it is still a vent of Kilauea since it's still on Kilauea's slope.
@LardGreystoke6 жыл бұрын
But Kilauea is on Mauna Loa's slope and Kilauea gets to be a volcano, so why can't the other kids?
@morgangrey40206 жыл бұрын
Guess you never studied Geology seriously...OK..There are 5 volcanoes that right now make up the big island of hawaii,Each of those volcanoes started out underwater and not part of any island,they all grew and formed together...the oldest is around 8 to 10 million years old while Kilauea is the youngest at 300,000 years old,just to remind you all 5 volcanoes are considered active but dormant.Also a new volcano is being formed right now 15 miles off the southeast coast of the Big Island...will take awhile for it to surface though.....but very possibly could end up as part of the big island since it's not that far away.

Just me thinking but all these people living between the two lava flows are trapped because the roads are blocked. I find it hard to believe that none of them have fishing boats. Why can't they get in a boat and go around the lava
@happykittenmeow6 жыл бұрын
They aren't really trapped, all they have to do is signal that they want rescued and a helicopter will retrieve them. These are people that are choosing not to evacuate. Also remember the lava produces toxic fumes when it hits the water, so trying to "go around it" probably isn't a good idea unless you have a LOT of room to put space between you and where the gas clouds are.

the shore there is all ROCK. Where you going to park your boat? Only place on Big Island is keep your boat the marina or launch it when you go fishing.

I really do understand that gravitational influences have an affect on volcanoes. Looking at the caldera of Yellowstone you can watch the USGS instrumentation charts and see the land rise and fall with the moon cycles, even day and night as the earth spins in front of the sun.

Um(☝ ՞ਊ ՞)Have you tried, 'throwing in the virgin' method of appeasing Goddess Pele? Well if you haven’t, I would suggest _Lil Tay_ . Simply leave a trail of $1 bills to the mouth of the volcano and then when she faces the camera to flex her _'stacks'_ and _'bling'_ push her in. *We must try everything* before more golf courses are destroyed! It might be a long shot, but if it fails the world would still be a better place without _Lil Tay_ -sad to say.
