I tried the Gran Crema before. It was a good consumer grade coffee. The Super Crema is made for coffee bar use. The Maromas is also a commercial grade coffee. I prefer it now. Seems to be sweeter and needs no sugar. I get it from Whole Latte Love. It’s close in price to the Super Crema. Also besides the leveler I got a calibrated tamper. I’ve got the consistency down. Now to get the milk stretched right for doing art.

I couldn't pass the deal but I'll try to Maromas next time. It has really good review.

Great review. I have one question. You set the grinder at 6!What is the scale of your machine?1 to ? In general I would like to know how do I understand which is the correct setting.. I have the Philips EP2223/40 - (1 to 12 the grinder scale) and I am trying to find the best setting. Thank you in advance.

Hoon! You broke the plastic cover on the scale @ 1:53. Kidding aside, that coffee looks good! I finally purchased some fresh beans for my machine and it's amazing! I've never tasted so good coffee before. The Barista Express is a great machine, can't wait to try out more fresh beans from my local roaster Kaffitár (e. coffee tear)

I know. I need to start roasting again. I really miss fresh beans but can't beat the price on LaVazza.

@@HoonsCoffee Yeah, that's a really good price! The local roaster here is very expensive, from $8 to $14 for 250g of beans, but I think it's worth it if the beans are good quality and taste great. Looking forward to more great videos from you! The coffee distributor tool has been a life saver for me as a beginner!

@@icewolfy1 That's expensive. 250 g is about 9oz only. You should roast your own beans if you can. Cost you about an average $7 per pound.

Nice video: I am currently using Lavazza Super Crema, a little lighter roast and get it about the same price as Gran Crema. I've had my machine since you started posting videos and I still can't get the milk right either, I moved to whole milk :-).

Hi Hoon! Great videos. How do you like the Super Crema compared to the Gran Crema? It seems like the Gran Crema is slightly more oily. I have the barista pro and been trying out different beans. So far, our favorite is the Dharma espresso roast from Temple (from Sacramento, CA) but it's a bit pricey so we're trying to find a more affordable option.

hello there - i just bought the breville barista express. i have lavazza gran crema beans. i have the grind setting on 6 and the grind amount dial at 3:00. the coffee grinds are overflowing when grinding and i am wasting a lot. do you have nay recommendations for adjustments. i have moved between 5-7 for the grind setting and to 2:00for the grind amount and nothing is working.

Increase yield amount (try 1:3 ratio) or ground does amount if too sour regardless of grind. Worked for my 800es which has 51mm portafilter

Which coffee do you recommend for someone that just got their first espresso coffee maker? And I see u always measure the weight of the coffee how many grams do u recommend for 2 shots. Thanks

Any LaVazza coffee is good. 2.2lbs for less than $20 from Amazon. If you don't have Amazon account you can try Starbucks. After a while you can try the local roaster for fresh beans. I think you can tell the big difference in quality. Try 18g first.

1:37 I wonder about vacuum sealed coffee. Implicitly it must "pull" out the fluids / gases from the beans over time to some degree compared to normal atmosphere level sealed stuff. I understand oils come out the longer / darker the roast. Presumably inert / noble gas filling is much more expensive than vacuum.

I don't think Lavazza actually seals their whole bean bags. It's just that in storage, the bags at the bottom get all the air squeezed out through the one way valve. But I do see what you're saying about the oils, that seems possible

I have been roasting my own beans and someone gave me a 4 x 1kg bags of Gran Crema with a long use by date so supposedly fresh and I have to say it's very one dimensional in taste and to be honest I hate it. I'm obviously spoilt - but the beans I roasted myself were just more interesting and not sure how to describe it but it's like there were a few different taste profiles all in the one coffee and that's despite it being single origin beans.
