Unfortunately I’ve never been able to get into shows someone told me to watch because “it gets better.” It either happens that A. I can’t wait that long, I have other stuff I’m actually interested in watching or B. I end up liking the start MORE and then when it gets supposedly “better” I don’t like the changes

If your investment experience is less than 10 years start with a 5-6 portfolio. Don't bet big on any single company, learn the process first... Initially diversification is not that bad, it worked for me in initial year's, remember that protection of capital is a must.

Market crashes are an opportune time to protect capital in the sense that one can gain a year of growth from the bottom of a crash in a matter of months. The last crash provided over a decade of growth in the majority of stocks. Always be ready to jump at these opportunities.

Growing up poor, I do have a bit of advice I learned later in life. It is easier to manage money when you have money to manage. That being said, I have taken steps to grow my money. I invested $100 ( took me a while to save it) in Johnson & Johnson stock. After 3 months I made $.66 in dividends. Having $5000 in my emergency fund only made $1.23. I won’t give up my emergency fund because I did use part of it recently and it was great having the money to do that. I will be investing more money into dividend stocks in the future. I’m 60 and I wish I had learned this when I was 20!

I’m curious what people think of crypto future. I remember reading in the book of Hararri that the reason why money has become the main mode of transaction is the fact that it is easy to understand and easy to use. I feel like crypto is none of these things, but I may not be educated enough. As of now, I view crypto as just a play field for investors

I think a lot of ppl expect inflation as a given, but I realized that with the growth of technology, the future may be deflationary. The book is called The Price of Tomorrow, and I HIGHLY recommend it - amzn.to/3jY9WKK Now I'm unsure about what to expect for the future, and when/how things will continue to change. Regardless, this affects ALL of us so I'm passionate about sharing any info that can help you be better prepared 😊

I think the fact that crypto is such a good idea will be its own undoing. It’s a genuine threat to banks and governments and so I think it’s only a matter of time before it becomes so big that it’s banned and made illegal. It’s also not very environmentally sustainable considering the amount of energy it uses. I think it will be a bit of a boom and bust. But still worth learning about.

I use to be weary of credit cards since growing up my mom had a hard time with credit card companies. But now as I'm older I found credit cards to be essential for every day purchases. My two rules with credit cards are not to spend money that I don't have in my bank and to pay off my cards every time I get paid. There are perks to using credit cards for everyday use like getting cashback or getting points for hotels or travel. I also feel more secure using my credit card for purchases since if money is stolen from my credit card I can cancel card and get the money back quicker than if it was my debit card. Plus the money stolen isn't my personal money from my personal account which gives me more peace of mind. I realized that my mom had a hard time controlling her spending and paying her bill on time which now I understand that credit cards aren't for everyone.

I'm feeling some resistance to the comment about owning rental properties as "passive" income. If you own the building then every single maintenance problem is yours to deal with. That's an active job or you have to pay someone else to do that active job so you have to be willing to give up time or money. I live in a community where absentee landlords are common, squeezing money out of young college students and low income residents and never being there when the mold is making your child sick or the basement floods. I'm sure that's true in other communities, but not universally true in all housing markets. I have faith that the Laviloves wouldn't be that kind of slumlord, but I hate the thought of someone thinking of making "easy money" when in fact they have so much responsibility.
