such a nice plant when in bloom . Love watching the bees . Sadly does not last long . Wish a 7-9 month flowering variety existed .

If you cut the flowers back in summer then they often bloom again in autumn!

What zone are you in? Here in coastal SC I struggle to get lavender to grow and survive. The high humidity of my zone 9 may be the problem???
@plantvibrations2 ай бұрын
Yes absolutely, you zone will be too hot and humid for many types of lavender. I’m in zone 6b. You may have more luck with Lavandula stoechas
@Serrafimo_Spang2 ай бұрын
@plantvibrations Thanks. I'll try that variety. 👍

Thanks Devon. Any suggestions drying lavender?
@plantvibrations3 жыл бұрын
yeah totally, you can literally just cut off the stems and place them somewhere to dry, like in the garage or in an open box and once the foliage dries out just use gloved hands and slide the foliage off the stem!

My 3 year old lavender has never flowered. I have also NEVER pruned and am scared it will hurt my plant. I'm in 6B. I think I have Munstead? Lavender?
@plantvibrations3 жыл бұрын
Munstead is a classic cultivar of Lavender. Dont be scare to prune it, you are only hurting it by not pruning it! is it is full sun? they need lots of sunlight to flower well. pruning will also help with that
@07kenna073 жыл бұрын
@@plantvibrations They are in full sun! I pruned them yesterday. Hopefully that will help! Fingers crossed!

Planted some lavender this year, i actually haven't pruned them this year, should I prune them for winter when I cut back lantanas and then prune again in March
@plantvibrations3 жыл бұрын
Hi! I would wait to do any pruning until the spring. Pruning now can cause desiccation in the stems causing you to lose more of your plant. I only ever prune my lav in the spring
@EliteStricker3 жыл бұрын
@@plantvibrations okay thanks, so should i prune them every spring and then just the tips during summer?
@lilklevenhagen2 жыл бұрын
I'm right on the line of zone 7b/8a and so we're already into 75-80 degree weather, but it's still spring. I planted the lavender last summer and it looks like it's already got new growth on it this year. Should I prune now or wait?
@plantvibrations2 жыл бұрын
i would still prune it! or else it will likely get too leggy by mid summer

I have my lavender bush next to my butterfly bush. The butterfly bush just takes over. This is my 3rd summer with both. I never pruned o will prune both soon. I'm in nj so really hasn't warmed up yet.
@plantvibrations2 жыл бұрын
You can prune them now! Prune the buddleja back hard, check out the video I made showing how

I have some new plants that have new sprigs. Is this normal. The plants are still small
@plantvibrations3 жыл бұрын
Yeah that is normal. they can take a while to get started

@@plantvibrations are you familiar with other herbs? I have parsley and basil. The basil isn't full and it is light green. I know it needs something, not sure what. Thanks

Your lavender looks dead 💀

lol it had just gone through winter so it needed to be pruned for fresh growth. it is still alive.
