I actually learned just about a year ago that bats don’t actually have that bad of eye sight. They just don’t have as good color vision or sharpness as us, but they’re super sensitive and see better when it’s dark (or even pitch black). Their eyes are just super small so using echolocation covers a much wider range when scouting for predators or prey.

First one: leeches actually still have medical use to this day! One of their most common uses actually go toward reconstructive and plastic surgery. Often times they're used in breast reductions because their saliva prevents blood from clotting, and it can keep the nipples and aerolas alive. They're pretty cool!

Headcanon time! -leech girl is moderately anemic. Is also very kissy. -piranha girl has a buttload of younger siblings, and when they're together they can clear buffet tables in moments. -tarantula girl has a toad godfather who she loves to hang out with. Is also considering taking up crocheting. -bat girl is a book worm, and has a very sensitive stomach, hence eating mostly liquid. Is dating leech girl, and is maybe, possibly a bit of a yandere. -everyone except leech girl, at first, can speak spanish (because all of the animals can be found in central and South America, and she looks like a species of European leech) and this is discovered when spider is berating piranha for biting someone and slips into Spanish, which bat subconsciously follows, leading to piranha talking back, and leech just standing there mystified. Leech can speak Italian and some German though.

Spider-girl's my favourite, although it's a hard decision. I have severe Acrachophobia, but I'm actually pretty fond of humanoid-spider characters. I adore the many eyes/legs. "Creepy" characters have a special appeal to them. I love making visually-disturbing OCs and then adding wholesome qualities to them, like a hobby or personality trait. I was gonna say, medical leeches are still a thing! And the people back then weren’t completely wrong either, some people actually do have too much blood as a medical issue. My boyfriend has to get blood work done to make sure his hemoglobin isn’t too high, because if it is you can have strokes from all the blood being too thick and condensed. We actually had the option of getting medical leeches to take his excess blood since the medicine he’s on makes it so he can’t donate.

I love the leech girl so much! But, one thing. I’m studying to be a zoologist and I hate to be a stickler for details but leeches don’t have multiple teeth. They have three in the shape of the letter “y”. The one with multiple teeth are lampreys. Also, fun fact: leeches have the most brains of any other animal! They have 32 brains! One for each segment of their bodies.

Here’s the difference for those who don't know. Catgirls are usually humans with slight cat features like ears or tails. Meanwhile, monster girls are less humanoid. Their designs are more tied to being monstrous rather than being humans with secondary monstrous features (sort of like having accessories) Of course, there’s no rigid definition, but this is the general consensus as far as I know

It's kinda funny how you say that because I remember reading a book with a character like that! Well, kinda... The book is "The Underneath" by Kathi Appelt. I remember reading it at the age of 9 or 10. I absolutely loved this book. I'm not gonna spoil too much, but I'll say this: This book has two stories that intertwine in the end. I don't know why, but I love books that have animals (or other creatures that are not humans) as main characters. But on a very different note... Your comment reminded me of a small incomplete project of mine. It was a short story about a raven and a snake with a sad ending. I even had simple sketches of this strange pair collecting rocks and twigs and feathers and bones; drawings of a raven soaring through the infinite orange of an evening sky with a small white serpent coiling around their body, holding for dear life, but there is not fear but pure excitement and joy in their unblinking eyes as they feel merciless winds beat at their perfect scales of silver... But like I said before, this story did not have a happy ending... You inspired me to pick this small project of mine back up and I thank you for this! I just hope that I'll have enough courage to post my creations (art, writing or otherwise) online for people to see, not just my family or my sibling's server. Sorry, I'm not a native English speaker but I hope that my ramblings of a mad man are still understandable.

This has nothing to do with the video but I just wanna give Haley some love. I first found her when she first started out on KZbin and my drawing skills were very nonexistant. Watching her very approachable art tip videos made me improve exponentially. I still remember the first time I was ever proud of my drawing was after I took the advice of her Do This Not That series. She's such a good teacher and I would nog be where I am today if she had not given me a solid foundation and given me the room to actually ENJOY the process of drawing. Oh I love this idea! I could imagine this Japanese horror dating sim where on the surface, the only romanceable characters are the cute girls. (I'll also add a bunny girl and kitsune character to balance out the ratio of cute and creepy girls), but gradually the creepy girls are introduced. They're so publicly loathed that even talking to them deteriorates your relationships with the main girls until they hate you just as much as them. The different routes I've come up with so far are: *The cat girl route:* You romance the cat girl. Her conversations are often centred around insulting the creepy girls, starting off passive aggresively ("I love how you can just wear _anything_, It's nice to see not everyone's obsessed with appearances"), and eventually just devolving into straight up insults, expressing how much they want them to leave, and eventually plotting how to be rid of them forever. Cat Girl expresses her plan to poison Tarantula Girl, and you have the option to aid her in the plan or tell Tarantula Girl and risk incurring Cat Girl's wrath on you and your next love interest (I'm allowing you to break up in this sim). *The puppy girl route:* You romance the puppy girl. She is best friends with the cat girl, following her like a little....puppy, and doing anything to impress her. She can't bring herself to hate the creepy girls, and keeps just enough distance for Cat Girl to think she hates them too. Later on she confesses to you that she thinks she might be in love with Leech Girl. But she is very impressionable, and with some coaxing you can get her to: a. Think she's going crazy and manipulate her into loving you again b. Confess her feelings to Leech Girl and stand up to Cat Girl (which may or may not lead to her getting murdered) c. Become even better friends with Cat Girl, and the three of you poison Tarantula Girl AND Leech Girl I'm not sure about the other monster girl routes yet, but I know I want it to include the discrimination they face from being 'monsters', some exposition about the hierachy of their (presumably) high-school and some personality traits taken from the ideas in the drawings. (I had this cute idea of Leech Girl being an assistant to the school nurse) and of course Leech Girl's blossoming feelings for Puppy Girl ❤️ Oh my goodness I truly went so off the rails with this prompt, I had SO much fun with it. I originally wanted it to put more of an emphasis on the beauty standards the creepy girls are forced to live up to and how much they're hated for being monsters. But it's late and my brain spurred out something more along the lines of DDLC. Anyway, let me know if you like my little dating sim concept, and I'll probably edit it to make a bit more sense when I'm more awake. Please leave some suggestions for the other girls in the replies!

Piranha is the adoptive daughter of Leech c: Tarantula is a social worker (idk she gives off those vibes) and she adopted batgirl early in her career but batgirl was like 17 at the time so they're closer to siblings than anything. Leech and Tarantula are friends from work

In terms of growing up with spiders, I would say that living in Victoria Australia would be a terrible idea for an arachnophobe, just because we have Daddy Long Legs (which are harmless) but we also have Red Backs (u talked about small shiny bois) amd White Tails (which seam to lurk in the weirdest of places)
