I agree with not paying for fancy brushes, I’m doing fine with default and some free brushes I got, and some that I made myself. you really don’t need special paid brushes, the defaults and free ones do fine when you know how to use them.
@rubydearest2 жыл бұрын
Yep and you can edit them to your liking and to fit your style paid brushes and such just have it so you don't have to go through the trouble
@wild.berryz2 жыл бұрын
i really don’t understand people who use those "fancy" brushes there are people who use braid brushes and grass brushes and it’s like THAT DOSENT EVEN MATCH YOUR STYLE?!? but paying for any brush makes no sense to me
@kas_ualties76922 жыл бұрын
@@wild.berryz I guess it’s to pay back the artist that spent the time to make them, but yeah… I would never spend money on a regular inking pen. Braid brushes are so tacky and one-dimensional, it’s really better to just use them as a layout and draw on top of in my opinion. Grass brushes are nice to have, but I think a lot of amateur artists just don’t know how to interpret it into their style so it looks so weird

I think variety of brushes is really wonderful! It’s a great way to support artists if you can, but it’s also a nice little luxury. For the haching brush, have you tried to male 5 dots in a diagonal line? Going vertical and horizontal should work just fine, as will on of the diagonal direction, though one direction wouldn't work. Maybe a dotted x would be best? Either way you want dots (or very short lines) above whole lines.

There are only two brush packs I'd ever pay for. One is Jazza's brush pack - great value per brush, works beautifully and you can buy a digital painting guide with it. Plus, supporting a fellow artist! The other one is this one very specific watercolor brush pack for Procreate. I haven't seen any other brushes, free or paid, that can do what it does.

i use free brushes when i can, but for specialised brushes sometimes the best option is to buy them. i really love retrosupplyco's brushes because they specifically emulate vintage comics and printing, but they are pretty expensive. it's a splurge that not everyone can afford, but if you can i recommend it! you're supporting fellow artists, and a lot of them offer free or cheap sample packs of their most popular brushes

I don't have many downloaded brushes that I use. I just edited the default brushes. But what really makes it shine is that I learned I can draw with transparency. So I can erase with my inking pen to make my shading match the lines (I tend to erase some of the edges of my shading). So since I learned that it's been a whole new world lol

A lot of my brushes that I use often (and became my go-to brushes) were free. Although I did actually pay for a few brushes, and I did come to regret it later. So if you are looking for good brushes for Procreate or any drawing program that has the feature of adding brushes, look for free ones.
@caramellpanda2 жыл бұрын
I think for the most part brush packs aren't necessary to buy, since it's not the brushes that do the work but yourself. I'm talking about like "sketch", "pencil" and "ink" brushes, because I've come across some FANTASTIC brush sets made by artists who are POC that focus on different hair textures and hair styles such as tight braids etc -- something that is truly important to learn when drawing POC. It's these brush sets that I happily pay for because I think it's important for artists to be able to draw all kinds of people who are different shapes, sizes, races etc. :)

this is so great! Honestly once you're more used to making brushes, you should make a paid pack. I, and im sure a lot of others, would love to support you that way, and csp even has a way to earn brush store currency by making paid brushes!

Honestly, all custom made brush packs should be free. Fidgeting around a bit with brush settings and/or textures doesn't mean you should sell it for 15-20$ :/. It feels so scummy, and the "special, super spectacular" brushes that are listed for sale can be made under a min or so by adjusting some simple brush settings.
