I was on a road trip in the 70's thru New England on a 750 Norton, snapped a clutch cable, stopped at the 1st cycle shop we came across which carried Laverda as one of their lines,I was immediately impressed with the looks and style of the Machine, left a lasting impression on me,a true road Machine!!!

I did the same thing in 73 with my new Norton,(in old England) I think they installed some unlubricated cables, as the replacement lasted decades, came across Laverdas racing in Belgium in a Grand Prix, Impressed. Later shipped bike to USA home.

What a wonderful machine from a golden era of Italian motorcycles: 70’s and early 80’s. I live in USA and these bikes were always scarce over here. Personally, my favorite make/model of the era was the Moto Morini 3 1/2, especially 1975.

Lovely, absolutely lovely and thanks for sharing. Lovely description of the bike. Yes the triples get most of the plaudits which makes the 750 twins good value. Almost bought an SF2 to live the dream but couldn’t quite find the cash for it to sit alongside my Le Mans & Hailwood Replica - shame.

I had the same model in orange but had the plush dual seat. A cracker of a bike with outstanding handling & of course, brakes. I had a very strong left grip back in the 70's thanks to the clutch. I paid A$1750 brand new in 72.

Drum brake SF1's had Lucas switches originally I think, (mine did anyway as standard). The SF2 was just disk front brake (one or two did not matter) the SF3 had 3 disks and cast wheels. Both later machines had ND switches. AM4 linings made the front stopper as good as disks in my view, no fade at all and not grabby either. Your bike actually has a converted longer clutch conversion to make the action lighter :) Great bike you had there. Thanks.

@Derek James Hi Derek. I designed and made it myself. I remade the mounting bracket inside the sprocket cover to move the pivot point higher up toward the clutch pushrod and made a new arm that was on an eccentric pivot. This allows adjustment of the pivot point so I did not have to cut the sprocket cover. Outwardly it looks standard but is much lighter in use.

If I remember correctly it was the first production bike to have no kick starter, and so the starter motor was huge!

Ah I see, I thank you for that. Wasn’t sure if Honda copied Laverda or the other way around as the insides look like a giant CB200 twin.

GORGEOUS motorbike. I add a small observation. I can't stand mirrors attached to the outside edge of the grips. And I love the English accent.

I once had a test ride on a 750 SF just like this. Really great bike but i just couldn’t find the funds at the time. I really regretted that. I could have sold a kidney or something simular! 🤔

Saw the thumbnail and couldn't resist. Have a ride on a Royal Enfield 650. If you are looking for a bike. Not if you already have a Laverda. Lol. The twin must be rugged if it's heavier than a triple.

They are about 50lb lighter than a Jota ! Superb bike though. I recall the original test in Bike magazine where the guy almost crashed it due to the not so SF brakes ;)
