With the factory in Germany, that actually happens all the time here in the US. For example, an Amazon warehouse will open up in the middle of a rural area and then after it hires several thousand people, there's a whole city basically built around it in half a decade.
@alohatigers1199
@alohatigers1199 2 жыл бұрын
Speaking of Amazon, these are low paying jobs. It doesn’t really help the economy. So, these “thousands of people” will struggle paying their bills. During this time where the cost of living is at an all time high. Low wage jobs are what’s creating poverty. If there is an abundance of low paying jobs, that’s how you maximize profits. I can see why Amazon makes billions.

@@alohatigers1199 Amazon pays pretty decent in many areas, close to 20/hr, but I agree with you. Wages need to be lifted. The US has a wage gap closer to China's than it does to West Europe.

It’s misinformation. Because the stat measures “per capita”. Very cherry picking stat. It doesn’t mean anything because it doesn’t tell the full story. America is still #1 obesity TOTAL.

Detroit was once one of the biggest cities in the US, but when the auto factories were moved out of the county and jobs sold to other countries, Detroit died. they took tens of thousands of jobs from the market in less than 5 years, destroying the local economy forever.

As a German I can tell you that it's really strange to me that a lot of people in English speaking countries think German is an "angry" sounding language. Whenever you see someone on American TV imitating German they yell and scream like they are about to attack somebody. Nobody here talks like that. It's like they are imitating Hitler more than anything else. I don't know a single person here in Germany who doesn't think the way Hitler gave his speeches was ridiculous. It's a stereotype that's always bothered me because it's just not true. Anyway, the legal drinking age for beer and wine here is 16 and for all other alcoholic beverages it's 18. PS: I hate beer, I don't eat sauerkraut and I don't work at a car factory. Oh, well...

Lav, whenever there is a BIG job market offering tons of good paying jobs, a city expands and grows. That is normal. People will not settle in an area if there are little to no jobs. Many of our largest cities in America are centered where there is a large employer. Here in my hometown, that employer just happens to be the State of California in the way of a State University.
@alohatigers1199
@alohatigers1199 2 жыл бұрын
That is IF you can afford to live in cities. NY apartments is $2k+ a month. That’s the problem. People can’t afford it, that’s why you see people not moving out of poor communities. They are stuck. That is also why people are moving OUT of cities. Not just that but the education. Lack of public school funds negatively affects kid’s education. Because public school is their only affordable option due to low wages and low wage jobs in that area. So, what happens if there is a lack of public school funds? These kids will struggle in school and will not get higher education, nor can they afford it. Therefore, they will end up in low wage jobs. That’s the reality living in poverty. Want to help millions of people out of poverty? Pay higher wage so they can afford to send their kids to better school so they can have better education so they can have better paying jobs

The U.S. (and I'm sure several other countries) have a tendency to take words with negative connotations and give them slang positive ones. Such as phat, sick, ill, bad, wicked, dank, savage (this one could be taken either way I guess in slang) etc.

Sometimes stereotypes are true-ish. To say flatly "Americans are fat" is a gross exaggeration. However, when I was in High School in the 60s at a school with several thousand students, I can remember only one kid who was truly fat. Now you can see them everywhere.

Two things... First off, positive stereotypes are still stereotypes and can be harmful or at least detrimental to the people in that culture. I've heard from Asians who really dislike the, "all Asians are good at maths" stereotype... Especially the ones who's parents think that their kid should somehow live up to the stereotype. 😐 Secondly, that Africans all speak a common language thing drives me nuts and I'm an American. There's somewhere between 1,500 and 2,000 different languages spoken in Africa... It's a bunch of different countries, if Europe can have a different language in every country, why can't Africa? 🤷🏻‍♂️ Okay, I'm sorry about the rant... It's just those two things kinda irked me.
