Lavos Core Battle theme extended

The "horns" or synthesizer section (not sure what else to call it) moves not only from left to right sides, but if you have headphones on it actually goes up and down as well on either side of your head making an infinity pattern: the perfect symbol for this fight through time. This is what top notch composing and sound design sounds like. Mitsuda is a damn genius.

I think of it as a pendulum, like for a grandfather clock. And you know what is the first thing you see when you start up the game, that clock pendulum ticking to the theme of the music.

That doesn't make any sense. Stereo audio, which is what's being used here., can only really simulate sounds on a horizontal axis in relation to your head. Binaural audio expands that to a horizontal plane by altering the intensity of sounds in front of you and muffling sounds behind you, but even it struggles to do up and down properly. Some tricks do exist to simulate the effect but they're most definitely not being used here.

Lavos, an alien parasite that feeds off the energy of not living things-in fact helping them evolve (for his own benefit)-but the planet itself so it can cause the apocalypse having the ability to fire off massive attacks and open time rifts. Greatest concept ever!!!

When you hear that scream and this song start up, you know two things. 1, Lavos is without a doubt a reality bending monstrosity, very much in the vein of Cthulhu and the Elder Gods, to the point the very Battlefield itself is having the fabric of reality torn away. And 2, you have managed to REALLY piss him off.

This is my favorite battle theme ever. It makes you feel like you are facing against time, having a pendulum effect and instruments that sound temporal. Chrono is my favorite SNES game ever.

The real boss was the tiny orb thing floating at the right... that looked like a generic add. In a time that internet was not as accesible as now, it was very surprising when you discovered it.

There's various other SNES RPGs with a few better boss themes than VI (but maybe not final), I'd say "Alien Battle" from GOD in particular sounds like it'd be fitting for a Lavos form.
