YSL Co-Defendant Lil Rod Accepts Plea Deal in Young Thug RICO Case

After co-defendant Quamarvious Nichols took a plea deal on Tuesday, YSL co-defendant Rodalius Ryan, aka Lil Rod, took a plea deal on Wednesday. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to violate Georgia's RICO Act. Ryan is serving a life sentence for the 2019 murder of a 15-year-old. Judge Paige Reese Whitaker sentenced him to 10 years, commuted to time served.

Young Thug faces nearly a dozen charges, including possession of drugs and weapons, participation in criminal street gang activity, and conspiracy to violate Georgia’s RICO Act. I don’t think any other Western democracy imprisons teenagers for life. In the U.K. their youth is taken into consideration and the court is supposed to give a term that doesn’t “extinguish all hope” which means they may get ‘life’ but with a minimum term and then release on licence.

@@ItsBrittany.unfortunately, I was one of those fools. Plus, I was raised in the ‘burbs with other military families, and was raised with love. However, in my senior year, I was sticking with the wrong crowd and was trying to be something that I wasn’t. Copped 3 felony convictions during my 4-year phase. Fortunately, I received my GED and kept my nose clean since. I never went to prison because I had a strong support network. I could’ve ended up like this kid. Rehabilitation works, but it’s the individual that has the make the decision and put in the work to leave that kind of lifestyle. I feel for those who don’t have that family unit though. It’s a lot more challenging.

I don’t understand why myself. I would assume if his life sentence is reduced after his appeal, they wouldn’t want to risk his possible guilty sentence for this case being longer so he took the 10 years as opposed to possibly more…I don’t know 🤷🏽‍♀️
