Judge Sends Young Thug Home After Over 700 Days in Jail

Young Thug will soon be a free man after Judge Paige Reese Whitaker announced his sentence during his non-negotiated plea deal on Thursday. Judge Whitaker sentenced the rapper to 40 years to serve 5 years in prison, which is commuted followed by 15 years of probation and then backloaded by 20 years.

Young Thug faces nearly a dozen charges, including possession of drugs and weapons, participation in criminal street gang activity, and conspiracy to violate Georgia’s RICO Act. The rapper was arrested in May of 2022 along with 27 other alleged gang members. Many of those defendants have taken plea deals in the case.
