We were raised the same way. I grew up with my dad, aunt, and uncle keeping cash at home. We're all Jamaican, and my parents stressed having emergency money on the go. It is very easy to save if you're disciplined. It's something I still do today. Yes, I have money in the bank. I also believe in keeping at least 10k on hand for emergencies if you can't make it to the bank. There is nothing suspicious about this, especially when you're paying your taxes and reporting your income. It's only suspicious to some ppl who can't save money, so they assume the worst.
